Does it really have to be used in a commercial application?

I read most of the reviews on this filter before purchasing it since it's listed a commercial filter, and I needed a residential filter for our 3M 3US-MAX-S01 single filter system. I decided to give this a shot even though a couple reviews said they had flow issues after installing. It's been installed for a week now and I have had no flow issues whatsoever. The water is clear and the "taste" is like bottled water. This filter is used in our side sink filtered faucet. Our main sink faucet is not filtered. So basically we just use the filtered water for drinking and cooking. I was getting the original filter on a subscription and it got cancelled and it was getting replaced every 6 months. This filter is recommended getting replaced at the same interval. However, the residential version is rated at 2000 gallons. The commercial is rated at 9000 gallons. In a commercial application for a restaurant 9000 gallons is probably spot on in the course of 6 months. In the house, not gonna happen. 9000 gallons will not pass through this filter anytime soon! Family of 3 and a dog. Best guess is 3 gallons of water a day x 365 days = 1,095 gallons in a year. The math says I'm good for 8 years. HA! We will see.

For Commercial applications ONLY

I ordered this as a replacement for a Filtrete system, but after receiving, confirmed with 3M that it is NOT compatible with Filtrete home filtration systems, even though it utilizes the same attachment method. It is designed for use with 3M commercial filtration systems.

Disappointed

I was disappointed with this water filter. We currently have a 3M Max water filter, but we couldn't find the exact same filter. So I ordered this water filter and the water barely tricks out when you want cold water. Now, if You switch It to HOT water, the water pressure is normal. I can't figure out why that is. There was no change in the water flow on either hot/cold with the 3M MAX Water Filter.

Created more issues after replacing filter

My faucet was running slow on the filtered side therefore I figured it was time to replace the filter. Although it is very easy to switch out filters the new one caused the water to run slower After about two weeks there was basically a drip flowing out of faucet in filtered side. What a waste of $46.
