Best for a wall or patio door, ok with a bay window

The media could not be loaded. I was first drawn to programmable LED curtains when I saw some Twinkly lights at the store. I was a bit turned off by the reviews and the price though, and sought to find a better one. This one is much cheaper and pretty decent in my opinion, but there are some things you should know before you buy. It's a grid of 20 lights per strand, with 20 strands covering 2m by 2m, though I would say 6ft by 6ft is more accurate. It has an impressive number of presets for each major and even some minor holidays. It also has a few non-holiday presets, a react to music mode (the controller box has a small mic in it), and static RGB lighting. All of this is accessible by the included IR remote. The remote does need direct line of sight to the white bubble blister on the controller box at a short range (about 3 ft?) to operate. It also has a Hello Fairy app you can download and install which has access to all the same functions the remote has, plus the ability to create your own image with simple animation or animated gif type (up to 8 frames), and schedule the lights to turn on or off on a basic schedule per day of the week, kind of like a thermostat schedule. It communicates with the lights via bluetooth, so you have to be somewhat near it to use. The lights remember the schedule and customizations you make after you close the app, until it loses power (unplugging it or turning off the outlet). The app is actually what I'm docking a star for - it could be a bit nicer. It requires precise location information to connect - because nearby bluetooth devices permission depends on it. The schedule is a simple on/off schedule (can set multiple on and off times though), and doesn't take daylight savings into consideration. It doesn't let you set which preset to go with the schedule, nor does it indicate which preset is currently playing. Since I wanted to put this in my bay window, as this is the only large window at the front of my house, I had to make some modifications and concessions to put it up. I remember seeing somewhere that they recommend wrapping it around a curtain bar if you have one - but I strongly recommend against this as it will mess up the spacing of the strands unless you're very precise with the wrapping. Use the included plastic clips, and point the bottom of the T upwards, so the strand goes upwards, and then wrap that around the curtain bar, and through the hook loop to secure it. I also put some wooden dowels I got from home depot and velcro tied two each to stabilize the bottoms of the strands, and to keep the spacing somewhat consistent, and not get caught on the blackout curtains I have. I wrapped each strand in a figure 8 around the two dowels, making sure that there wasn't a LED in the loop. Because of the dimensions of my window, I had to sacrifice the top two rows and bottom 5 rows. They won't be visible outside, but most of the presets are recognizable without them anyway. All in all, well worth the $40 I paid for it. [Update] Got it plugged into a smart plug now to cut its power via alexa - useful when traveling so it won't light up after the holiday is over.

More pictures for all holidays

The only thing that kinda upset me was in order to make out what the picture is you have to be standing kind of far back and maybe they could have added more pictures for holidays like 4th of July and Easter, but other than that these lights are really neat and I've enjoy them so far.

Fun!

The media could not be loaded. I was pleasantly surprised by this LED curtain. It looks much better than I thought it would. It's hung in my studio behind the drum kit. (see video). I had to go under a beam so the hang is a little wonky. It comes with an IR remote and can be controlled by app via Bluetooth. My only quibble is that the mic for music chase is not very sensitive. Maybe just my unit? But a disappointment. Overall a fun visual element for my studio.

Absolutely the best thing I have bought in awhile!

Ok first off I figured this wasn't gonna be all that it said. So when I opened it and all these wires were all tied up I thought yep gonna be junk. Took it all out straightened the wires which was very simple to do. Hung it up and started pushing buttons. This is the coolest thing I have ever seen! I can't tell you how many y options you have! The colors are amazing! Make it bright or turn it down. Every holiday is on here. And yes you can completely make out every picture you pick! Write and make your own to! The app is just as awesome though you do NOT need to use it if you don't want. You need it to make your own things but otherwise the remote does it all! Absolutely blown away by all it does! Im leaving it up year round cause every holiday is ready to go!

Like what works but one strand DOA

What is working of this product is very nice and enjoyable to view. On the plus side, the lights are very bright and the colors are nice. The remote offers many options and my granddaughter loves all the shapes and "star bursts" options. On the negative side, we need for "pixels." The "resolution" is really old school as it's just hard to make pictures with only 400 lights. Give me 4x the lights and this is where I would think would be a good "starter" set for displays. Also, the light strands just hang. And, being wires, they bend easily. So, it is very hard to keep them straight. I would think they need some bar at the top and bottom to keep the wires pulled tight and straight. I would have kept my set and enjoyed it had it not arrived with one dead line. With 5% of the lights out from the start, it's a no-brainer to return it.

So awesome I bought more

I absolutely LOVE these!!! If you're looking for a fairy string light.. these are perfect. We even bought another pair to wrap around the living room ceiling.. and are probably going to get more for the gazebo outside. App was easy to add to Alexa and Google (we use both) and responds perfectly. I have a LOT of LEDs.. from big professional ones to the retail types like Govee and Phillips HUE.. and these are every bit as good as any of them. Just realize they're fairy lights, and not going to be crazy bright. Just 5v USB lights. The colors are perfect though. Will happily buy again

Dazzling

I’m really pleased with these lights and all the functions. They are easy to set up. I downloaded the ‘AvatarControls’ app. Open up the app, login or create your account. Plug your lights in. If they come on, turn them off on the white control box, then hold the ‘On/Off’ button down on the white control box for approx 5 secs. The lights should start flashing. They are in pairing mode. Now click the ‘+’ on the top right to add your device. Follow instructions and they should be connected in no time. You will then get all the controls for the lights on your phone. The lights are so bright. The effects are amazing. The bulbs aren’t big but they are bigger than micro led lights. Can’t wait to see them up at Christmas and in action.

Fantastic

This is a great product! Excellent value for money. A range of preset modes, select any colours you want, control brightness and link to music and Alexa. Sadly no Christmas colour mode, otherwise highly commendable.

Flimsy - not as good as expected

I expected the lights and cables to be a bit more substantial. Particularly due to the very good reviews. But it all feels a bit flimsy. The music sync function also doesn’t work very well. I am hoping to be able to return them.

Funziona bene ma attenti all'uso semplice

COme luminosità sono ottime lampadine. E collegate con il Wifi e la loro app, dopo i classici 20 minuti di smanettamenti sono riuscito a pilotarle bene. Però... se le usate semplicemente come lampade bianche ( cosa che a me è successo più di una volta), lampeggiano a volte inspiegabilemnte e quindi creano problemi. Secondo me vanno messe vicino al Wifi, perchè se perdono il segnale, invece di continuare a lavorare come semplici lampade bianche, lampeggiano. mah...

The media could not be loaded. Ne ho comprate 2 e poi altre due dopo 20gg perché tutto sommato sono soddisfatto. Nel video ho evidenziato la scarsa luminosità rispetto ad una concorrente che ha però una potenza maggiore: 6W e non 5W. La compatibilità con Smart life ne ha determinato la scelta mentre l'obbligo del pacco doppio, il prezzo ed una luminosità non eccezionali hanno determinato le 4 stelle.
