The Baggallini Everywhere Bagg has been my go-to bag for everyday and travel for years. The organization and arrangement of pockets is perfect, the material is easy to clean and durable, and it holds everything I need. I love it so much that I have 2 (black and dark teal). But the Everywhere Bagg had its issues. - It was just a touch too big, especially for summer wear. - I never used the built-in Credit Card sleeves, but carried a separate (RFID) wallet. Sometimes you just want to carry your wallet in for a quick stop. Sometimes you want RFID protection on your cards. - I always clothes-pinned the back trolley sleeve zipper closed because I was worried it might open accidentally. When I saw this Modern Everywhere Hobo in a perfect summer color (sea glass), I scoured the reviews to see how it compares to my tried-and-true Everywhere Bagg. I couldn’t find much info, so I splurged. Now I’m back to share the info I wish I had. (Spoiler: I LOVE it!) Material - The Modern fabric feels just a touch less smooth than the EB, but my EBs have seen a lot of use, so may have softened over time. Size & shape: - The overall width and height have not changed. - The Modern has just a touch less curvature at the top than the EB, making it 1/4” taller in the center. - Depth the Modern is about 1/2” slimmer than the EB at 4-1/2” instead of 5” - The bottom width of the Modern is 1/2” narrower than the EB at 10-1/4” instead of 10-3/4” Exterior - The exterior pockets all have the same configuration, including the never-mentioned magnetic slip pocket behind the front flap pocket. - The elastic in the side zip pocket of the Modern does not stretch as far as the EB did, making it even less useful. - The open side pocket of the Modern is bigger than the EB. The material on the exterior side is 2” wider than the bag side, so it sticks out a bit farther. I’ve seen people mention that it looks less sleek, but I can see it being much more useful now. - The hidden phone pocket along the top seem is a great addition. It is 3-3/4” along the opening, and extends 6-1/2” down. - The locking zipper on the Modern trolley sleeve pocket is wonderful, but the zipper now opens 8-1/2” now instead of 9-1/4” on the EB, if that makes a difference to you. - The removable crossbody strap is the same length as the EB, but a softer material. It doesn’t irritate my neck like the EB can after a long day, but I’m curious to see if it holds up as long. (At least it’s easily replaceable!) Interior - Unlike the EB, the back zipper pocket of the Modern does not extend fully to the bottom of the bag, stopping about an inch short. The pocket is also about 1/2” narrower at the opening. - The EB had 10 credit card slots along the front interior. The Modern replaced those with 2 slip pockets. The left is 4” wide and 5-1/2” deep. The right is lined with felt and has extra material so that it sticks out a bit further. It is 3-1/2” wide and 5-1/2” deep. - Instead of the EB’s 2 horizontal elastic loops above the back pocket, there is only one there on the Modern, with a second vertical loop along the front between the 2 slip pockets. - The key lanyard in the Modern has moved to the opposite side of the bag (closer to the zipper opening) and is made of elastic instead of nylon. - The Modern has 2 internal D-rings, both close to the zipper closing end. One is below the back pocket zipper. The other is along the side seam. The EB only has one along the side seam. RFID Wristlet: - The Modern’s RFID wristlet is a huge improvement to that of the EB, and I might actually use this one! - The zipper extends a bit down the side of the Modern, making it open much easier so that you have full-width access to the space. - The zipper length change has made the Modern wristlet about 1/4” wider than the EB’s wristlet. The Modern is now 7-1/4”x4-1/2” - Putting 3 credit cards in the RFID wristlet (instead of in the bag itself) makes a lot more sense in terms of ID protection and ease-of-use.
