Some reading inconsistencies

The device is well made and is basically what's used in many MD offices. The issue I have is the variance when taking the temperature in the same ear multiple times. The first time I use it, the reading appears 1-1.8 degrees higher than the second or third time the temperature is taken from the same ear. In comparison to an oral thermometer I see this as reading the tympanic temperature 1.8-2 degrees higher. This is concerning as a 1 or 2 degree variance determines if I should contact a physician or not. I contacted Braun and have yet to hear back. As such, I'm averaging my temp between three readings from this unit and a reading from an oral thermometer, until I'm given some calculation to make sure what I'm seeing is expected and/or accurate.

this is hands down the best thermometer out there! i’ve used every forehead and mouth and ear thermometer out there and this one is the most accurate!

Famous Thermometer!

I had used Braun IRT-4520 for past 13 years, but it started automatically turning off several times. That’s why I decided to buy new one. I believe Braun is the best for Thermometer! It is definitely easy to use even at night without any light! However, there is only one drawback. They applied the cap instead of case, it is not well-fit to thermometer. It is easily popped out!

There's no case

So far it's been accurate and works fine, easy to use, pretty standard stuff. However, one of the reasons I ordered this one instead of getting the one at the store was this said it came with a case and it only comes with a cover for the ear part. I like the case because it holds the ear covers easily. It doesn't affect the use obviously, so if not having the case isn't a deal breaker, it'll be great.

Easy to use

This is my second purchase of this thermometer. It’s for my daughter’s house. It’s easy to use, easy to read and stores simply.

ThermoScan 6 vs. ThermoScan 5

I have both the old model and the new model since the old one was becoming less accurate, which I believe is acceptable after more than a year of use, especially when used for children. The new model sounds mainly the same, with a few minor differences. It appears to distinguish colors based on the detected temperature, which seems like a good idea. However, unlike the previous model, it lacks a holder to hold the thermometer, making it difficult to hold the disposable lens filters.

Works well and is consistent with its readings

Purchased this when we got Covid. It works well and helped greatly with identifying what was a high temperature and what was just feeling grotty. Easy to use and comfortable. It came with covers for the tip when inserting into the ear which is hygenic when using with more than one family member. However, it does not seem to work without the covers so that will be an extra cost when they run out.

Perfect if you have children

Our old Braun thermometer lasted 8yrs so I wanted to replace it with the same brand. I decided to pay a bit more based on the reviews that it was the same one used and recommended by Drs. So far it's been really good and accurate. I like the fact that it lights up red, amber or green so you can see if a temp is coming down and what's within the normal range - I've had to Google 'normal children's temperatures' so many times over the years! It is more expensive than some, but in my opinion it was worth paying more and going off the last one we had, it should hopefully last a while.

Accurate and easy to use.

Replacement for an earlier model which has died inexplicably. Nice display and easy to use but had to buy a case separately and cannot store with cap in place.

Missing case and caps

Didn’t come with case. Also doesn’t have 60 extra caps despite it saying it’s included
