Unique quartz sweeping second - an eye-catcher!

So this is it - the famous Bulova 262 kHz quartz movement with the smooth sweeping second. Finished in 2012 they announced an accuracy of 10 sec/year. Nowadays they say 5 sec/month which is quite a difference but a good value, too. But no longer HAQ (high accuracy quartz). Typically the movement achieves 2 sec/month. Due to the high quartz frequency and the sweeping second this results in a bit higher energy consumption. That was compensated with a fairly large CR2016 75 mAh battery which could reach a lifespan of 3 years. Sometimes only 2 years if the watch got some longer running time before selling or not so good temperature conditions. Thus energy consumption is technically around 0,003 mA which is 3 times higher than a normal quartz movement uses. Despite some rumours the movement uses no temperature compensation so it works best on the wrist at around 26°C/79°F. Lower temperature results in slower movement. Enough said on this. Let's talk about the watch itself: A beautiful silver/rose-gold watch with gray dial. But too much polishing. In my opinion brushing would give a more useful appearance. You see every finger print and more which is kind of annoying. A good microfiber cloth gets permanent attention. I changed the leather strap (22 mm) in the very first contact to one of my favourites although it should get more flexibility during some days of wearing. The mineral instead of a sapphire glass is a con but when it is scratchy I will let it change to a sapphire one (~40 $). Seldom to read is the huge problem of color fading and deterioration of the rose-gold hands but if you look closely and open-minded to the pictures available in the net it is fairly evident. I finally got one of the newest batch which doesn't have this problem. Buyers should be aware of it - to accept it as a personal special edition for me is not a solution. Because I like the watch, the look and especially the sweeping second I bought the blue one, too, and probably will buy the black one also. It seems availability is going to run out, so be fast. They certainly will be a good catch at around 180-200 dollars.

The Apotheosis of a Working Watch

Being a bohemian, it was a bit hard to justify the price of this watch. But the 262 kHz precision always reminds me of punk rock, so I guess that makes it okay. When I first saw the photo I did a double take, as the faded blue face of the watch brightened in accord to my superstitious belief that somehow this watch would be good for my work schedule. When the watch arrived, I stared at the "bioluminescent" face and sort of doubted anything too supernatural. Then I realized that my internal psychic eye likes to reproduce variants of the sector/hourglass reflection patterns of the face. To sum it all up, any time I don't know which task to do, I use my inner perception of the metaphysical colors of the watch, to determine for instance which math book to read, which program to program, etc. With a price like this, you know you're paying for something pretty magical, and you're right!! Well worth the money!

Absolutely love this watch!

I ordered this watch a few months ago and absolutely love it! This is my first Precisionist watch and I have been really impressed. Don't get me wrong, I love all kinds of watches - automatic, quartz, manual wind, etc, but this watch is such a great value for the performance! My favorite feature by far is the smooth sweeping motion. It is actually significantly smoother than any of my automatics that I own (although I will say, I do not own any high-end automatics, just a few entry-level and a few mid-level automatics). To get an automatic watch that has a sweeping motion as smooth as this Precisionist watch, you would have to spend SIGNIFICANTLY more money. I love the color combination on this watch. I mostly wear it with the included brown leather band (which wore in very nicely and still looks perfect after wearing it daily for months now). Sometimes when I wear black suits for work, I will swap out the band for a black leather band, and it still looks like it could have been shipped that way too. This is a great entry level watch with a great movement that I have thoroughly enjoyed so far!

Super Accurate Beautiful Watch

Beautiful looking watch, the blue dial pops, amazing 16 beats per second sweeping hand, accurate to 10 seconds a year which is the most accurate watch you can buy. The strap is a bit meh so I changed it to a comfortable blue rubber strap that really makes this watch stand out and goes with the 100m water resistance.

Nice dress watch with pointless lume.

Lovely watch with interesting dial and Bulova’s legendary accutron movement. Although there is lume on the hands and around the edge of the dial it’s poor, indeed I really don’t know why they bothered if that’s all they could manage, still it’s supposed to be a dress watch rather than a tool.

Este modelo, precisionist, alude a su alta precision. En un mes ni siquiera se mueve un segundo! La correa es comoda. La caja esta finamente pulida y los acabados en oro rosa se ven de buena calidad. El segundero se mueve continuamente dando una vista unica. La caratura es elegante. Tal vez lo que le hizo falta fue que le pusieran mucho mas lumen ya que apenas brilla en la oscuridad. Muy buen reloj para los que gustan de los cuarzos

Beautiful watch

Love the sweeping seconds hand. The dial is a much deeper blue than the pictures on amazon would suggest. Really hard to go back to the other quartz watches in my collection. Be warned that the watch does wear much larger than you might expect. 50 mm lug to lug. It just BARELY fits my wrists at 6.75 inches (in my opinion, some might disagree and say that it does not).
