Power tool
I haven't used it like I thought I would cause my air compressor is to small for long time use with that being said.... The tool definitely meets Craftsmans durability. Good feeling when holding in hands, with comfortable handle. Runs great. Worth the money.

Function
Not very balanced for smooth motion on panels. Would recommend the center control for better balance

Requires air compressor
Unfortunately when I ordered this item, I missed that it requires an air compressor to function and is not self-powered. (I'm just starting to build a tool collection, so this requirement was not obvious to me when I looked at the listing.) Since I don't have an air compressor, I couldn't fully test the sander, but I did my best to look over the item, read the instructions, and see how it would feel to operate it. Overall, it seems like a good product. The instructions are clear and concise, so even a rookie like me should be able to figure it out without much problem. It has some weight to it so it feels like a rugged tool. The handle has a rubbery coating that ensures a secure grip. It seems like a well-made tool and the motions of the sanding pad look like they would be effective.

Beautiful tool
I was just saying the other day that most pneumatic tools are very rough around the edges, no matter what brand you buy them from (but they still work reliably, likely because they are more simple than those with engines). Then this comes along, and it is, in fact, an exceptionally crafted, refined tool. It seems to me that the new owners of Craftsman are bringing this name back to its former glory (and I thank them for that). It's super smooth, and has a sort of dual-circular system. I'm guessing this is to ensure that the pressure (from weight) on all parts of the disc is even over a time interval. But it is confidence inspiring. And you set the speed via an airflow knob on the tool that takes it from so low it doesn't move all the way to super fast. And it does make sense - as the manual says - to utilize that feature so you don't damage your workpiece by starting at the super fast speed. You can remove the pad with a spindle lock as you might expect. And it works with a handle "trigger" system, as you can see. Other than that, it's still a simple tool, so if you take care of it, it'll likely last forever. What they did to make it a little more special is give it a very aesthetically pleasing rubber coating, formed for comfort and better detailing (in the looks department). Although I am more concerned with a tool's function, this is a nice change from very basic looking tools and makes you feel like you're getting the best you can get. No case with this, but you'll probably want to keep dust out of it (ironic, I know). Unfortunately, it is too deep for the lidded compartment in my tool box where I keep my caseless pneumatic tools. So maybe a box would be nice. And of course 6" self-adhesive sanding discs are less common in my experience than 5" velcro, but I think I like the 6" self-adhesive better. Also, no chance to hook a vacuum up to this of course, worth considering. But I generally prefer my pneumatic tools - this included - when I have my compressor activated.

Like it a quite a lot more than my motored sanders
I have been really getting into restoring furniture in the last few years. I have been using a regular electric sander up until getting this Craftsman pneumonic sander. I already had an air compressor and had recently used a pneumonic sander for the first time at a friends house and fell in love, so I was excited to use this! I will say that there are pros and cons to both styles. Obviously this one does not come with any ways to vacuum the dust. It’s also a bit more of a process to set up and take apart than my motored one. But other than those few drawbacks, this out performs my motored ones in almost every other category! It’s comfortable and easy to use, and keep a good grip, due to the rubber handle. I can get a job done about 25% faster, mostly due to the fact that I don’t have to use this in layers and go over the same spot multiple times. It is louder than my motored one, but I don’t mind that much. Overall I’m loving this! It’s easy to change the speed, and doesn’t go from 0 to 100 so you don’t mess up. I’m sold!
