Won't work on 2020 Lexus Rx350
4 pin connector is male should be female. I had to return product. Also Curt reps (2) were no help. Last one told me I was looking at wrong connector, and it should not be outside the cabin, Wrong, it is outside left rear close to exhaust. Curt does not have a kit for my car which is not equipped with a tow pkg. Don't fret there is a kit available from Tekonsha, PN 118255. The installation is simple as well. Good luck!

Where to put the 10 Amp fuse in the vehicle is the only confusing part of the instructions.
So as most folks said this is very easy to install. I installed it in a 2015 Highlander Hybrid. Plenty of videos on the Internet as to how to reach the wiring in the back of the vehicle so check those out. But there are a few things you should know and reading this should make it easier for you than it was for me. Once you get to the point where you have removed the pieces and hooked up the two connectors, you have two decisions to make. First is whether to drill a hole for the ground wire screw provided or use a screw or bolt already in the vehicle. I chose to drill the hole, sand and that's the best option in my opinion because you don’t need to sand any nuts or screws and you can put that screw where you want it--there are plenty of safe places to drill in the rear near where the adapter plugs in. The second decision is where to put the 4-pin plug (inside or outside the vehicle). I think the best option is to leave it inside the vehicle unless you will be using it a lot. You run it to the compartment where the spare tire tools are. I ran it through the piece of plastic that goes over the battery--see the picture (non-hybrid owners will not have a battery in the back), When you leave it there, it’s easy to get to--you never see it unless you use it and you don't need to worry about running it under the car and mounting it somewhere. Also, if it is outside the vehicle it can corrode, the wires can be cut, it can be damaged, etc. The only downside is it sticks out the back of the vehicle when in use, so if you are anal and don't want to see the wires then run it under and mount it. If you do run it under, the hybrid drain hole is in a different place from regular Highlanders, or at least it was from the one I saw in the video for a non-hybrid. In a hybrid, it is between the battery and the rear at the bottom—you’ll probably need a light to see it. I was confused by a video of a non-hybrid which showed the drain plug against the back of the vehicle (i.e., the hole points out the rear of the vehicle rather than down to the pavement as it is in the hybrid). As to the 10 amp fuse (the one that goes in the vehicle not the inline one in the adapter) the instructions say to consult the manual as to where to put it (there were two in my kit you only need one plus the inline one so you’ll use 2 out of the 3). Well, I could not find where in the manual to put the "trailer" fuse, but I watched the etrailer video and kind of "guessed" where it was from that. First, the fuse box is under the engine hood and it’s the main box (there is more than one) --see the picture as to where that fuse goes. There were only 2 possible places for it and it's the one closest to the front of the vehicle. Next, you must test your installation. If you do not have a trailer to hook up to it (or even if you do) there is a very cheap (under $7) and easy solution. Do yourself a HUGE favor and buy a tester. They are cheap and I don’t care if you are an electrician and have all kinds of ways to test it, this is so easy using a generic tester is not worth the extra trouble to save $7. I bought the SeaSense EZ TROUBLESHOOTER Circuit Tester here on Amazon and highly recommend it. Did I mention you should buy the tester? Finally, once you reconnect the negative post on the battery and clean up, you’ll try to close the hatch door with the button on the door, it is probably going to beep at you and not close. The reason is that you disconnected the battery (assuming you do during installation and you should) with the door open the door "open/close sensor" won’t know whether it's open or closed hence the beeping. Close the door manually and it should work fine after that.

2010 Highlander WITH Tow Package and Still Needed This Converter!
I purchased this for my 2010 Toyota Highlander WITH tow package. I made the mistake of trusting the etrailer.com website which stated I only needed the 4-wire adapter for the rear of the SUV to hook to the trailer lights since I had the factory tow package. I have my original sticker for my vehicle which states that is has the tow package, which apparently only means it has the transmission cooler installed but no converter or flat 4-wire trailer plug for trailer lights. I did my research and verified the transmission cooler was installed by looking at the front air dam on the driver side through the small lovers and seeing the cooler itself, check. Then I opened the rear hatch and removed two rear floor panels and driver's side rear corner panel which revealed a black plastic tub held by two thumb screws. Remove the screws and you will find a small rectangular white plug, this is where the pig tail will plug in to go to the trailer lights. I cut a slit in the 2" rubber grommet and fed the pig tail through it to the rear hitch. I drilled a few small holes in the plastic underneath the rear bumper and used some zip ties to secure the wiring in place. After taking 15 minutes to perform the above task when I purchased CURT 56042 T-Connector only, a few days later I arrived at the U-haul dealership on a Friday evening to pick up the trailer to use for our 2,000 mile cross country move. I hooked up the tail lights and they did not work. Next, I broke out the manual to check the fuse box layout and found that the 30A towing fuse was not installed and I was like "DUH" so I installed a spare and the light still did not work. I took the trailer home to figure it out there and that is when I discovered I was missing the converter. The first clue to check and see if your Toyota is pre-wired for towing is to check and see if the fuse has been installed for towing in the fuse box. This is located under the hood on the driver's side. Next, check to see if the converter is installed which is under the dash on the driver's side. You should see a large white male rectangular plug. If there is nothing plugged into it, you are missing the converter. This costs $125 from Toyota and they do not keep it in stock. I was supposed to be on the road by Saturday to make our trip, but Amazon was my quickest option and could get the part for 1/4 of the cost to my by Sunday. I wanted to take the time and share my experience, especially if your Toyota has the tow package.

Trailer Wiring Harness
Easy to install, watched a YouTube video according to the make, model and year of vehicle. You might need an additional fuse from the auto store for under the hood.

Works as designed for a 2009 Highlander
I first put in an aftermarket hitch and trailer wiring for my then-new 2009 Highlander a few weeks after purchasing it. The electronic control module of that installation lasted 13 years before getting flaky, with one trailer light dead and the other continuously on even when the ignition was turned off, and intermittently blowing the 10A fuse. This replacement unit was plug and play and immediately solved the problem. I had been using the loose trailer connector cable from the previous product, but for this upgrade I also purchased a frame mounted connector with a lid ( see https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B07Z6RZCVF ) to make the whole installation more professional. This involved cutting the provided trailer harness to a shorter length, and using butt splices to connect each of the 4 wires from the two different products. Looks great, works great.
