Delta OEM costs more. Would rather be sure of fit.
Has Brass stem which is sturdy. OEM parts fit well. Easy install with springs seats and valve stems hot and cold.

Genuine part = no headaches
What's to say? You either need this because your faucet is leaking or you don't. This was a genuine part so it fit perfectly. It's always worth going with the delta products on the delta faucets instead of the knock offs. Get the RP4993 gasket/spring kit too while you're at it. Put silicon grease in it too! 5 minute fix and no more drips.

True Delta Part
When I order for the brand, I want it to be the brand. This was a true Delta part. The only difference was the original had a black colored base, and the new one had a clear colored base, which has/had no functional differences that I know of. The stem is/was brass and not plastic. You can buy the part with the 1/4 turn insert (RP25513) if you feel you have the need to, but the insert is reusable. The reason to replace the whole valve stem assembly is that there are O-ring seals that wear, shrink, become hard, and deteriorate over time. Additionally, the rubber seats that rub on the bottom surface can become hard enough over time and cause wear on the face of the bottom valve surface. The cost of the valve overrules trying to save money and having leaks. Also, always replace the rubber seat and metal spring under the valve as well as the whole valve. Never use metal objects to push the seat and spring; use your finger to gently push the seat and spring into position.

These were supposed to last a 'Lifetime' - - Didn't !! Lasted 6 years.
After about 6 years living in our brand-new home (move-in date 2/14/2014) we started receiving messages from our nanny-gate water company that we had a slow leak. After a few months investigation, I discovered the Delta faucet in our master bath tub had a slow leak at one drip every 75 seconds. Yes, our nanny gate water company had installed new digital water meters apparently capable of tracking water use at this minuscule level. Sure, Delta says "guaranteed for life" however I did not believe I would live long enough to ever get this covered (Delta, if I'm wrong, I'd love to hear from you). Included you can see the bottom of the original Delta valves which appear corroded and gritty. Also included are pictures of the rubber valve seats covered with bluish green corrosion (no, the rubber doesn't corrode however products of corrosion from the valve itself have embedded into the rubber valve seat) and evidence of chronic scratching likely caused by the corrosion evident on the valve cartridge itself. I first ordered a Delta OEM replacement valve cartridge at a cost of $15 (subsequently returned) Delta OEM replacement ($15.91) https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B001D0L7H6/ However subsequently found a 2 pack of Delta equivalents (slight difference noted in a 2 hole valve vs. the OEM crescent moon valve, however no functional impact) for about $6 plus $3.50 shipping) Delta Faucet RP24096 Stem Unit, 2-piece Pack ($5.99 + $3.50 S&H) https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00XIM0J5I/ After replacing both valve cartridges, the slow drip was still there so I ordered a single set of valve seats and springs. Kissler Seats & Springs ($0.85) https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00B483CV6/ I was a bit uncertain regarding the fit and finish of these so I also ordered a 10 pack from another manufacturer Wholesale Plumbing 10-pack ($11.99) https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00I3ICGJY/ Once both sets had arrived, I reopened the faucet valves and attempted replacement of the valve seats and springs. I think the Kissler seats were slightly better quality than those from wholesale plumbing (otherwise equivalent) but the Kissler Springs were 2 to 3 mm too long. The wholesale plumbing Springs exactly matched the OEM Delta originals so I used one of the sets from wholesale plumbing. I think I could have used the Kissler valve seats with the original Delta Springs but only thought of that after I had completed the repair. Installing the new valve seats fixed the slow leak and for less than 20 bucks I fixed what probably would have cost several hundred had I called in a plumber. I am not sure if I could have effected this repair by buffing out the corrosion on the OEM Delta original valve cartridges and also replacing the valve seats and springs (the original springs were just fine), however am comfortable with what I was able to do. Unknown why I was unable to post images with this review.

Tips
This is an identical Delta replacement. As others have stated the only difference between this part (RP24096) and the RP25513 is the included 1/4 stop. If you have your original part, you don't need the slightly more expensive RP25513 because the 1/4 stop can be salvaged from your existing one. The stop is not something that wears out, so don't pay $3 for it, unless you lost your original one. Tip: If water is collecting underneath the handle, your problem is with the stem. If you have an actual drip from the faucet, the seat/spring is the the problem. There's no need to replace the stem for a drip. However, since seats/springs are cheap and somewhat delicate, if you have to replace the stem (due to water collecting under the handle), you might as well replace the seats/springs while you're at it. Just ensure the seat is oriented correctly and flat within the recess in which it resides. If it sits crooked, you WILL have a drip and you'll likely tear or shear the rubber seat thus necessitating a new seat. If you have a Delta faucet (why are you reading this if you don't?) I highly recommend you keep at least one stem assembly and 2 seat/spring pairs on backup. You'll be glad to have them on hand when the faucet begins to drip or leak.

GOOD PART, HERE'S SOME ADVICE ON INSTALLATION
If the faucet is dripping and won't shut off, first replace the valve seats. On my unit this is replacement part RP4993 and only costs $5 for a pair. If that doesn't work, or the leak is around the faucet handle, you need this part. This is a manufacturer's part and it works well, although it took a full week to arrive. First, turn off the water supply and wrap an old towel around the work area to mop up any spill. Remove the handle with an Allen wrench, then back off the bonnet nut. Grab the stem with pliers and pull it straight out. Installation is the reverse of removal. TIP: I like to put some silicone grease on the threads of the bonnet nut and on the o-ring so it not only seals better but also comes off easier next time. You can also try replacing just the o-ring, but the whole cartridge assembly is cheap enough that I didn't want to bother sizing the ring. Besides, it's cheap insurance knowing that I won't have to do this job again for a few years.
