Attractive, economical ceiling light

Smooth, frosted globe spreads light evenly. Dark metallic base contains a smooth-acting pull cord switch. Easy to install with industry-standard bracket and mounting holes.

Nice looking fixture, however does not take CFL bulbs.

Looks good, I like the simple and clean look with brushed nickel. Makes a nice accent to more utilitarian rooms and spaces without being bland or overly fancy. Pay attention to the specification where it says “type of bulb: incandescent,” as they are serious. If you try to use a bulb that is not in the shape of a traditional incandescent bulb, there is a good chance it will not fit. In particular, when I tried to use the curly CFL bulbs (at least the couple brands I had on hand) the globe hits the bulb before it can seat in the fixture. Luckily, I was replacing a similar fixture, and the globe in that one was about 20% larger and it fit right up to the base, so I just used the other glass so I could use whatever bulb I wanted. Without that lucky find, I would have probably dropped my rating to like 2 stars. Also, I hate to be “that” person, but the styrofoam packing used in this product is so bad to be actually noteworthy. The only explanation was that it was intentionally designed to be the messiest and most irritating packaging ever created. It is like a styrofoam powder loosely pressed together, which inevitably breaks off and crumbles into tiny pieces. I wouldn’t base a purchasing decision on this, but just FYI you probably need a vacuum handy.

Perfect for replacing those ugly porcelain things!!

I recently had a very frustrating experience with replacing the generic porcelain pull-chain ceiling light fixture in my pantry (you know... the ugly, white kind that just has a bare light bulb screwed into it). Yes, those things only cost about $5, but they are a royal pain to replace since they don't have any lead wires coming off of the fixture itself (and in my case, the wires in my junction box were very short). So, when the fixture in one in my closets also started having problems turning off/on by pulling the chain, I decided to look for an alternative that would not only be easier to install, but also more attractive. That's when I came across this little gem! Not only is it the perfect size (and very easy to install), it's also a major style upgrade and is available in several finishes. All of my house hardware is oil-rubbed bronze, so I was pleasantly surprised to find it was available in that finish!! If you're hesitant to spend the extra money on this fixture over simply replacing your ugly bare-bulb thing, trust me... it's TOTALLY worth it!! In fact, I just ordered three more to replace the fixtures in my other closets. And just FYI... this same fixture is available at several other places online, but Amazon's overall price is the best (at least at the time of this review).

Love this light!

This light is just what we were looking for. They are as shown and described in the add, so we were not disappointed. They look good. Easy to install. And I think the price is right. The only thing is that, if you want, you would want to buy the actual "end chain" because the ones that come with the product are not actual chains, they are long pieces of lanyard or lace, not a nice look. See the pics for both "pull chains": 1) one similar to the one that comes with the product; 2) the one we bought. I recommend this product.

Great little light!

Works great. The pull chain doesn't feel super smooth when you pull it, and the string came off, but all in all, a great light for the price.
