what you are not understanding

these couplers were originally designed for cast iron pipe but they are essential for remolding PVC case in point. I had to install a gate valve so when the hurricanes come the septic tank will not empty itself in the house up all the shower drains.

Its easy to install

These items are primary used on PVC water and sewer lines. However, they can be used on metal water lines. Life span may be 10 or twenty years --since they are fabricated from SS and a good quality of rubber/plastic seals. An easy method of making a joint between "rigid" pipes! (Example--a sewer line buried 43 inches deep)

Bought wrong size, looks like it would work perfect if it were the right size

I can't really say if this works or not as I bought the wrong size. It's too inexpensive to return, not worth that hassle. It looks like a sturdy solid piece that will work. But I cannot say for sure as I did not use it.

stainless metal protective wrap!

This was used to connect a mesh screen https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B01BW2VWG0/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o00_s01?ie=UTF8&psc=1 to the terminus of a 3” PVC drain pipe the takes runoff into the desert. Was easy to install and offers protection of the rubber gasket from critters who may find it tasty.

Missing inner sleeve

Both couplings are missing the rubber inner sleeve/gasket which makes these worthless to make a water tight connection. Not worth the aggravation to go through the trouble to return them. Into the trash they go.
