I bought this 10 years ago and it’s still standing strong. I love that it has two compartments. I use the top one for paper work and the bottom one for valuables.

Very pleased with this purchase
This fire proof safe arrived and performs exactly as indicated in the Amazon ad. Let me provide more details. First off, the packaging wasn't the greatest. The box looked like it have been through a lot and wasn't in the best of shape. Once I cut the box open (from the bottom) I lifted it up and away from the safe. I cleared away the packing material (which was somewhat crumpled) and examined the safe. It was NOT damaged in any way. Its not cracked, dented, or scratched at all. The bottom is not bulging and the safe sets perfectly flat on the floor. The door does "rattle" in the closed position (just a very little) but no more than what you'd expect. I don't think adding weather stripping to resolve that problem is necessary; as its not a problem. I didn't have any problems storing 2 different combinations in the keypad, the key pad works fine. I also tested the lock out feature by entering the wrong combination (on purpose) and the lock out feature worked. It beeped continuously for 3 to 5 minutes. When the beeping stopped, the keypad was reset and ready to enter another code. The keypad does beep with each key stroke; that doesn't bother me but it might some people. One concern I have was that the keypad appears to be little more than a plastic calculator on a steel safe door. I tested the keypad by hitting it 3 times with my crowbar. Now, I didn't whack it with all my might, but I did hit it pretty good all 3 times. The amount of force I used on the keypad I don't think most calculators would have survived. The keypad seemed to absorb the force from being struck by my crowbar and continues to be fine. Don't get me wrong, I'm sure if I kept trying eventually I could break into the safe with my crowbar. Either through the door or breaking off the keypad, but that would take some time and a lot of noise making effort. After all, its NOT a bank vault, its a home safe. I assumed the 4 pre-drilled holes for mounting would be on the bottom; but that's not the case here. There are 2 holes on the bottom and 2 holes on the back. The mounting hardware leaves a lot to be desired. I'd like to see brackets to attach to the underside of the floor making the mounting much more stable. I'm going to close off the 2 holes in the back as I'm not sure how they'd effect the fire proofing if they were left opened. All in all, I'm very pleased with this purchase. I'm going to buy the brackets to mount from under my house which is a bit more than most people would probably want to do; but I think its well worth it as I don't plan on buying any more safes.

I Fixed our Broken Safe Door Unlock Mechanism, here's how
I've seen some reviews where people complained that the door lock is no longer easy to open. Ours started having this problem after three or four years. I opened up the lock mechanism inside the door, and was able to fix the problem with ours. If you have the same problem, the attached photo may help. First, you'll need to remove the four screws on the back of the door that hold its inner cover in place. Those screws attach to the four holes that I have numbered near the corners of this photo. Continue supporting the cover after the screws are removed. It has a small red control switch on one side, and there are two wires that run to a small plug on the circuit board. You can unplug it there and set the door cover aside. The small circuit board is attached directly above the metal slide that moves to the left to release the door bolts. In our safe, the circuit board had cracked under the mounting screw, and that corner had broken off. The board still worked, but since it was no longer held in place it dropped down and forward. I suspect that the screw had been over-tightened and caused the board to crack. This caused the door slide to bump against the plastic on the edge of the small buzzer attached to the board. So the slide had to push the board out of the way for the lock to release. As you can see in the photo, I added some plastic washers under the screw so that it could trap the board in place again. This board is very cheaply mounted, held in place by only the single screw plus a weak plastic retainer on the opposite corner. I also added a tiny amount of oil to the slide retaining washers, and the pivot where the release knob rotates. You can test the door release by pressing the solenoid plunger down, there's no need to keep entering the combination. That took care of the problem with our safe. Yours may not be identical, but the mechanism is pretty simple to work with if you have decent tech skills.

Well I like that the safe I receved lets me put 1 ...
Well I like that the safe I receved lets me put 1 user code and 1 master code for each door. So 2 codes pe-door. Note I did not get the one I orded though. Mine did not have the anti-fishing teethed slot as described and shown above. Mine just hade a short strate in drop slot. I orded the one with the teethed drop slot but got a difrint model. I did get my order faster that I thought I would. The safe I got came with 4 keys. 2 for the top door and to for the bottom door. Both the keys and the key-locks are numbered. I can tell you that the one I got came with instroctions that did not make a lot of sence untel I re-read them like 7 to 10 times. Thy were poorly worded and had sevrel mis-wordings and mis-spellings. And I know I can't spell very well but even I know how to type instroktions that make enough sence to where thy can be read and understould. Despite my bad spling. Lol. Also this tase is not deep-enough nor wide-enough to hold a 5 bill chash box or chash tray. It can hold a 4 bill tray or cash box in the bottom but the doors locking bolts get in the way of leting a 4 bill box or tray from fitting in the top box of the safe, and of litting more then one 4 bill chash box fit in the bottom box. This safe need to be like 1 to 2 inches deeper or about 5 inches wider. This safe is not idel for a lorg buissnes but should be OK for a small buissnes that is just startting out. For a bussines makeing like $2,000 - $5,000 or more per-day or $10,000 - $15,000 per-week I would say definetly get a better safe! An for a small bussines owner I would say that I think you should try to keep only just enough money in a safe like this one just to be-able to make change for your customers. If you are a small bussines owner that I would say that you should try to keep no-more in the safe then maybe $75 per chashyear and maybe at the most $300 for the mane chashyear for on the very busey days.
