2 yrs later and still love it

Installed this sink over 2 years ago and we are still so happy with it. It will occasionally stain if food is left on it or a pan to rust but it always comes out with comet. Would definitely buy again.

THE SHAPE WORKS GREAT

My husband loves our new sink. The rounded edge section is big enough for the larger pots. The small side holds my dish drainer perfectly. The only think I would complain about is that water stays on the surface of the sink and doesn't drain completely. I bought the matching flange for the drain hole, and it is on top of the one for the disposal. That could be part of the problem, but I think the texture of the sink surface could also be holding onto the water.

Black is beautiful

It is very hard to choose something like this online. So many color choices that you cannot accurately see in person. Fortunately I’ve been in a dealer showroom and saw their display of stone sinks so I knew I liked black. In person, the black sink isn’t too harsh. It has tiny flecks of metallic silver all throughout the finish which is exactly what I wanted. This sink is massive although the overall dimensions of the sink are exactly the same as our old one, this sink utilizes just an inch lip all around and the rest is used for the interior of the sink. My pictures shows our sink installed into sub-top and will be under mounted under granite when our project is complete. As for if it’s advisable to buy this sink in a package with accessories, I’m happy that we did. The faucet is basic but I’m fine with the simplicity and chrome finish. The drains that are included are plastic but they are color matched to the sink and look great. I’m glad to have them. Finally the best deal is that I have the exact matched bottom sink protectors. They look fabulous and are essential to protect the sink from day one of use. I priced out these accessories and estimate that the faucet value is about $90, the drains sell for $45 each, and the protectors are about $40 each. So if you purchased all these separately I’m guessing the accessories to be about a $260 value. Durability wise, we are testing it out now. I’m being careful but still using it like normal. I’ve washed large pans across the bottom, cast iron on one side, stacked dishes in it, drained boiling water in it, laid a hot pot inside on the metal protector, it’s all been fine so far. As the water drains it moves to the back of the sink where the drains are. The sink dries overnight and the next morning it looks like new. The matte finish is not dull but something I’m getting used to. The sink is beautiful and it will look great with the Arctic White granite we are installing. I’m happy so far.

Missed 5 Stars With One Annoying Detail

This is truly a spectacular line of kitchen sinks, but their design engineers didn't think out one important detail. When you make the decision to go with this sink and spend the money it costs, and then find that matching drains are available, you figure what the heck, pay the ridiculous price for the plastic drains as well! It will look great, and it's a one time expenditure. And if you've entered the 21st century along with everyone else and you're on a sewer line, you have a garbage disposal. There are two matching drains available from Elkay for this sink, one meant to replace chrome basket strainer found in most sinks, the bottom of which attaches directly to the drain plumbing under the sink, and one meant to slip into the existing garbage disposal drain with no direct connection to the plumbing underneath. The problem rears its ugly head at this point. There is an indentation in the inside of the sink for the drain flange to sit in that allows the flange to be flush with the inside bottom of the sink, and allow water to completely drain out. That works well on the non-disposal side, but because there are two flanges on the disposal side, one from the disposal itself, and one from the Elkay sleeve that is made slip into the disposal drain to cover it, what results is a flange that sticks up above the inside surface of the sink and doesn't allow the sink to completely drain. There's always a ring of water about an inch wide left in the sink, and worse, it becomes infinitely more difficult to rinse the sink of any debris. The debris, instead of flowing out the drain, circles it defiantly! Coffee grounds are the THE WORST!!!! I don’t have a clue as to why this problem wasn’t addressed during the design and development phase of this otherwise perfect product, and as you might be able to tell, I’m an engineer myself (retired), and stuff like this drives me crazy!

Beautiful black sink, stellar customer service

The offering for this came with several options. Sink only or sink with accessories. I ordered this sink as the "kit" that included drains, protective sink grids, a faucet and a cleaning kit. When my original order arrived as only the sink, without the accessories, I contacted the seller. Their response was immediate, saying they would check the warehouse. Within days, they sent all the "extras". Everything was packed well, and in perfect condition. I will certainly use these sellers again and highly recommend them. Oh, and by the way, I love the new Elkay sink! It is gorgeous and will look wonderful in my kitchen with my new countertops. This will be my second Elkay black sink, the black is gorgeous and easy to keep clean. I have had it for more than 10 years. I polish it about once a month with a product called "Perfect Sink" to keep it shiny and black. If you have hard water, it may need to be polished more often, as the calcium in the water can make it look dull. The only reason I am replacing my old one is because I do love the idea of the lower divider between the two sinks. I also felt that it would be wise to replace it now, when the new countertops are installed, instead of regretting it later. It is a bit expensive, but their price was good compared to going directly to the Elkay website. I couldn't be happier.
