adorable but not durable
These shoes were purchased for a high school production of The Wizard of Oz. The shoes are adorable and the actor who wore them found them comfortable to perform in. They were easy to slip into during the scene where the ruby slippers end up on Dorothy's feet. However, during the 3rd performance, the heel of one of the shoes came completely off of the sole. Looking at the construction, the tacks that held the heel onto the shoe were misaligned and barely attached the heel. We were able to reattach the heel with a hammer and some shoe adhesive, but it left the actor feeling concerned that the heel would fall off again during the rest of the performances.

Most accurate Dorothy shoes, wish they were more comfortable :(
I’ll put foot pads in them… the 9s (normal size) were too short, but fit width wise. I have very narrow feet, so seems to me that these shoes run small. I ordered a 10 and it was the right length, but a little wide. Nevertheless, I wore them, they weren’t too uncomfy because I went with the bigger size, shipping took longer than usual but still on time for Halloween. Thank god I ordered the 9 a month or so in advance so that I had time to exchange. They served the purpose for a one day costume and I’ll keep them for the next time I am Dorothy!

Twinkle Toes
I wear a perfect 9 1/2. I took a chance and ordered the 10 as other reviews had said they run small. They fit pretty snugly. If I had to say, I'd call these more of a 9 1/4 if there was such a thing - they are actually a little small to be called a 9 1/2, even, but the material gives enough that they are comfortable without being tight. In search of the "perfect" ruby slippers, I also have a pair of the Secret Wishes version. In the event you are as weird as I am about wanting the "right" ruby slippers, allow me to compare the two for you. I ordered the large (supposedly fits 9-10). The Secret Wishes shoes are sloppy big even using two pairs of toe pads (lambswool and gel), but I suspect the next size down would be too tight. Size wise, the Ellie 10's are smaller than the Secret Wishes large (9-10). The Secret Wishes shoes are shaped more like the Wizard of Oz slippers than the Ellies, and the sequins are sewn more closely together which does look a bit nicer, but the heel is nothing more than a too-tall block of wood painted a shade of red that does not come close to matching. These Ellie shoes fit more comfortably, and the lower heel, which looks much better, is covered in red satiny fabric. You could actually sew sequins on if you are looking to replicate the original ruby slippers more closely. Neither bow is particularly good, but the Ellie bow, at least, is a more appropriate size. Of the two, I do prefer the Ellie shoes. Overall, these are quite nice whether you are looking for costume shoes or for display. And slipping them on before vacuuming makes housework a lot more fun, but watch out for Toto!

A little stiff but perfect for my costume.
I ordered the size I wear and they fit. A little narrow or just stiff, I have a wide width, but a size larger would not fit my heel. They’ll be fine for an hour and I got red house slippers for the long haul. But overall exactly right for my costume.
