Don’t read my review wrong. I absolutely love this floor lamp, and although it’s just a little bit shy of being perfect, which sometimes I want in my furniture that is on display to my guests, the lamp looks to be something designed for MoMA (the Museum of Modern Art). That’s how I would describe this, its modern, unique and a showpiece. Everyone loves this. Overview To start, everything arrives in an oversized package. Weight This lamp weighs-in at near ten (10) pounds, most of the weight is in the base, which adds to stability. Assembly I did “not” have much difficulty putting everything together, it’s quite intuitive. Any delay I attribute to user error. There were instructions, but again, set-up was easily done, I read the instructions afterwards. Function and Form The lights switch is easy to turn. A nice bonus is that it kind of has a unique three-way-switch. The first turn illuminates two (2) lights, the second turn illuminates three (3) different lights, and the final turn illuminates all five (5) lights. We use it mostly on the first switch. This can throw a tremendous amount of light. The additional feature is that the lights are Medusa like, I can bend the tentacles of the lights in various directions, casting light in the direction I prefer. This lamp competes admirably with the perfect lamps typically found on display at a specialty lamp shop and/or sometimes big box retailers. Where to place? We decided this lamp was best in our home office, in a corner on my left. Again, this casts a tremendous amount of needed illumination. We use this every day. Miscellaneous: This lamp is near 6” tall (at about 67” and its shaded can be bent in a shape to make the lamps over 2’ in width. This looks stunning, it’s just so good looking. The power cord is about (“58”) long and is black. The lamp this replaced had a (78”) power cord and was clear in color. Clear usually works universally. Black does not, nor does a short black cord – that would be my biggest complaint with this floor lamp. Otherwise, the lamp is sturdy, durable, and overall, just above awesome in build quality. A big positive is the light sockets are UL listed. I would have preferred my old size power cords, which I ran on the floor then up to the receptacle, but again, good looks can cause a blind eye in other smaller areas. [Can you tell I really like this floor lamp?] Our comparison is store bought lamps. This lamp, in my opinion, would fall at the start of the higher end versions I see in retail stores. I did not have to grow to like and to appreciate it, it was love at first sight, and it continues. I feel fortunate to have selected this. Caution, this lamp had a recent price drop from near ($80) to about ($50) so do not wait too long so get this. I hope my thoughts were informational.
