PBY Catalina, tillverkad av Consolidated Aircraft, var en flygbåt som senare blev ett amfibieflygplan som användes av flera länder på 1930- och 1940-talen. Outstanding!!

I originally got this hoping to use it as a Xmas tree ornament since it has a ring to hang it from. However, I was pleasantly surprised that it was much to heavy and large for that. The plane is solidly built and of good size for display.

Very beautiful pre-war PBY Catalina. I've always though the USAAC color scheme from the 1930's were the best looking a/c. This model is well built, with correct antennae for the period. Other markings accurate as well. Rather heavy, too - that helps to keep it stable on the stand! It costs a little more than a smaller plane, but considering the size and weight, its ok. If you like Planes, Catalinas, or WWII aviation in general, you will like this plane and find the cost more than reasonable

A WWII Memento -

My Father flew this type of aircraft, a PBY-5 Catalina in VP-14 in World War II. This model is marked with VP-14 identification - 14 P 11, his squadron (his aircraft was 14 P 3). But there are a couple of technical problems. The aircraft was painted in pre-WWII colors, but the model is actually a PBY-5A - the amphibian version, which were not flown by VP-14 until 1943. Still, the detail is excellent, a great display of one of the iconic US aircraft of WWII.

Nice model of a PBY

Great Model of a PBY Catalina. The model is diecast metal like all of the potage stamp collection. The props are plastic as well as some radar equipment on the wings. The gun blister near the tail is also plastic but its clear plastic to mimic the glass the gunner would see out of. A great representation of the PBY.

This is a really well detailed model. Beautiful. It was listed as "like new--with damaged packaging" and that is exactly what I got. It is precisely "like new." Splendid representation of lovable old "Dumbo."
