Durable

I enjoy cooking as sort of a hobby, in fact doing the holiday meals without the wife's help. One thing I love is real mashed potatoes and I do mine in a fairly deep aluminum pot. Once they are cooked to fork tender I'm after the potatoes with my butter, milk etc and making quick mashing and stirring moves around the pot and this thing is durable and long enough for the laps around the pot.

I feel silly that it's taken me decades to figure out the problem with my mashed potatoes was the tool I was using to mash them! I was using the tool that you usually see with the round flat surface and holes in it (I call it a masher). Apparently that tool causes the potatoes to get gluey. This traditional masher is identical to my grandmother's (other than being a bit on the cheap side). Her mashed potatoes were AMAZING. Should have known...grandma knows best ;-)

After a year steel is peeling

The “stainless steel” started to peel after a year. I did not intend to eat the “steel” coating flakes, no idea what they are made of. Spend 5 more dollars and buy a real stainless steel one. Would not recommend. I just threw mine out.

Happy With My Purchase

I was looking for this type of potato masher and found it on Amazon. It works great to mash my potatoes to the consistency I want which is 95% smashed and smooth with 5% not smashed. Easy to clean up if you do not let the potato dry on the masher. So far it has been pretty durable but only gets used once a month. The masher is heavy and durable and does not bend out of shape even when pressure is applied unlike the cheap one I had before. Overall, I am very satisfied for the price I paid.

Just right!

I was looking for a smaller potato masher to use in my 2 and 3 quart pans. This one is "just right". It is durable, and sturdy with a wood handle. I mash about 1 to 2 quarts of potatoes to make mashed potatoes but I do like some lumps in the potatoes. I am 5'11 and 250 lbs and I get enthusiastic sometimes but this masher has not bent on me yet.

Great for what its meant to do.

I'm not usually one to bother making homemade mash potatoes. Usually, the boxed stuff is good enough when a lot of other dishes are being made for a big dinner (which is normally the only time mash potatoes are served in my house), but my family requested homemade, and I acquiesced. This masher does its job well. Feels very sturdy and handle is smooth. The metal feels as though it runs pretty deep through the handle and doesn't feel like it will snap if I use too much force. This shouldn't happen anyway as your potatoes should be pretty soft. Highly recommended.

Potato Masher Chrome with Wood ...

Ah, my new potato masher. I'd been needing a new one for about twenty years or so, and saw this one and just had to make it mine. It's the best I've ever had of the two, and it's tall enough to mash all of those potatoes at the bottom of a large pot and that's a good thing when you have a large family gathering. No one can complain about lumpy potatoes, because there are no lumps. I'd recommend this potato masher to a friend.
