These are SO CUTE, needed a little cleaning up around the edges though

These are adorable and add a ton of fun to any dinner I host - they definitely get noticed and are a fun conversation piece. I did notice upon receiving these that the edges where the wood was cut was not the cleanest so I did go in with a crafting knife and trimmed/sanded the edges a little bit to prevent any surprise splinters (it didn't take long but you shouldn't have to remove splinters from a food-serving utensil). I do wish the whales faced opposite directions. Both whales in this set are cut and curved identically, so to scoop salad you have to use the "front" of one whale and the "back" of the other, it'd be cool if you could have them face to face for scooping, but that's pretty minor. All in all, these needed a little cleaning up around the edges but they're super cute and a fan favorite.

Too small

These are adorable, but a little too cheaply made, thin and small, to be worth $20. They are chintzy enough that I wouldn't feel right giving as a gift, unless part of a larger gift basket or a stocking stuffer or something. I took a pic next to my water bottle so you can gage the size. They are not tiny but they would definately get lost in bigger salad bowls.

Cute but not the best finish

I'd definitely give these little whales 5 stars for cuteness. However, I was a little disappointed by the quality. Neither of them had a finish that matched what I saw online, and the two I received were also very different from each other. Not the matching set I'd hoped for. However, I think they'll work well (as well as separate tongs ever do), and they're lightweight and easy to hold. Would make a cute gift if you could get a better matched set.

Super thin and splintering

These whale salad servers are adorable. Unfortunately, they are really thin and feel cheap. They remind me of disposable wooden utensils or a popsicle stick. The whale's mouth is splintering on one and the edges on both are rough and look like they will start to splinter as well. I don't plan to actually use these to serve salad to anyone, that wouldn't be safe. They came tied together with twine so I will hang them somewhere as a decoration. For the price, I definitely expected better, at least safe to use in food.
