Assembly is a challenge

The materials are of very good quality and the completed lamp is attractive, stable and sturdy. Assembly is a challenge since the parts are a very tight fit with each other. The wrench which was provided does not fit either of the two sizes of nuts on the lamp, one of which is metric and the other SAE.

Nice mission style lamp

Bought the floor lamp a year ago and decided to replace another lamp in the same space with the table lamp. Looks very nice as a set in my Asian/Mission style living room. Simple assembly. The shade had a little fraying on one edge but treated with clear fray check used for sewing and it is fine.

Hard to assemble and ridiculously over-priced.

Folks, it's an attractive lamp; mission-style elegance and simplicity. But the instructions stink. No, really, you can throw them out. Examine the inside bars of the top frame, and you'll see that the two outside poles must first be screwed into the top frame assembly, and then you can slip on the outside sleeving. You'll need to fiddle with the connection of bottom sleeves and it's tricky as hell to connect to the base...I suggest you lay it down across your legs or on top of a small box to secure that base. Use a small adjustable wrench for the bottom screws, since the wrench that comes with the lamp is completely worthless. And the price! I bought this lamp last week at $142 plus tax. Today, it's listed for $243!! Waaay overpriced in my opinion. Caveat emptor!

Great Lamp!

We purchased this lamp for a reading area in our bedroom. I liked it even more in person than in the picture. It's sturdy, emits a warm light and is great as a reading lamp. It is sturdy and well made. I highly recommend.

Excellent classy living room lamp for the price

While the lamp looks elegant and works fine, only one problem I have with this lamp: 1. No installation instructions. While it is quite easy, a simple 4 or 5 picture instructions on a sheet would have helped. For other shoppers: first assemble the 3 rods and the lamp base together, lay that flat on the ground, and then try attaching the base. Finally, lift it up from the ground. It doesn't come with the bulb. Have to buy that. I put in a Sylvania 3 way LED light that works well with this giving enough light for reading in the living room. Once assembled, it looks great. I like it.

Nice lamp but some assembly problems

Very nice lamp, It is positioned behind my couch and is perfect height. Only issue was the assembly. It is very difficult to get the three pieces to aline for assembly. Each post should have a stop to prevent the three rods being inserted too far in the top and unable to reach through the base plate to have the retaining nut engaged. Had to disassemble, and back out the threaded rod and reassemble, twice to get enough thread. Assembly took about 90 minutes.

Impossible to assemble this piece of junk

I should have read the negative reviews before I bought this poorly made piece of junk. The vertical portion of the lamp isn't cast-iron or even a reasonable facsimile, as the photos would lead you to believe. The tubes are hollow, and they come in two sections that have to be put together. You would think that would be simple. But no. The instructions are nonsensical, and the pieces of this relatively straightforward device don't fit together properly and can't be assembled the way the instructions (once translated) suggest. After two hours of trying, I tossed the bits and pieces of this miserable excuse for a lamp in the trash. I will say that unlike some other customers, I received a lightbulb. So now I have a $150 lightbulb. Wonderful. No more online lighting purchases for me.

Atrractive lamp

I was drawn to this lamp by its attractive styling and excellent price from Amazon. I must note that the base of this product is plastic -- unlike the metal "body" of the the lamp. However, its sheen and colour blends in quite well and isn't noticeable until you handle it. Assembly is straightforward -- you must bolt the body of the lamp to the base with two threaded rods. I extended the threaded rods about 3/4" from the bottom of the body. If they're too short, you won't have enough thread to attach the washer and nut. If they're too long, the rods will extend beyond the indentations carved into the bottom of the base. After loosely screwing on the washers and nuts, I placed the lamp on its side on the floor and elevated the top portion of the lamp body by placing it on a box. This ensured the body was square to the base before the nuts were tightened (with the supplied wrench).

A very good lamp with the worst assembly instructions on the planet

A very good lamp with the worst assembly instructions on the planet. They read like a contest to see who could create the worst instruction ever. If the instructions were re-written this lamp could be assembled in ten minutes as the mfg claims. As they are - I expect some people never did assemble this product. If you buy this product (and it is good) - ignore the instructions. Intuitively you will be able to assemble this product without any written support.
