Just OK, has some issues
***If you decide to get this, make sure you have a thinner needle on hand. If you’re making the dog, cut the stars LARGER than the pattern or it won’t work when finished (details on why below).*** My mom got this for my daughter and I to do together. My daughter decided she wanted to make the dog. Since there’s only enough material to make one of the designs, my experience relates only to the dog design. The instructions and diagrams are clear and easy to follow, but we had 2 issues pretty early on: 1. The provided needle was too thick and was extremely hard to get through the felt. Once I switched to a thinner needle I have in my sewing kit, the sewing became easy. 2. The provided glue had dried out. We tried fabric glue, craft glue, and superglue but we’re unable to glue the felt pieces together. The glue was immediately soaked up by the felt, leaving very little on the surface to stick to the other felt piece. Since we couldn’t find a glue that works I’m thinking about stitching around all the pieces to hold them together but haven’t made time to actually do it yet. Even with our difficulties, we kept pressing on. After following the instructions for the conductive thread we were able to make a complete circuit and all the LEDs lit up when we tested them before covering them with the stars and bone-shaped collar. That is, UNTIL we tried to glue the stars onto the sunglasses. The stars are just slightly bigger than the LEDs they cover. We put glue only around the edge as the instructions say, but couldn’t find a way to put the star on without at least some part of the glue getting on the LED. The glue must have affected the conductivity of the thread, because now the LED that got glue on it won’t light up. Our choices are to try and finish it with one less light, or remove all the thread for that part of the circuit and see it again with new thread (if there’s enough extra thread). I’m not sure yet if we’ll try to finish this project or just give up, so it’s just sitting on our table half-finished.
