Useless. Defective parts issue unresolved for years!

This little cog is part of a very expensive toilet we purchased a few years ago. The viscous fluid that is supposed to slow the toilet seat's closing has turned completely solid in them. This results in a toilet seat that is stuck open at a 45 degree angle and will not close. I have tried replacing the dampers FOUR times over the years and I've waited on hold for hours hoping for some answer from Kohler regarding this DESIGN FLAW. They have sent me multiple replacements but all have the same defect. Lesson learned: Never buy Kohler again, buy Toto--the Japanese would never risk their reputation on one faulty, badly designed part.
