All about the Kohler medicine cabinet

I bought this cabinet and as others mentioned, the door didn't close squarely and supplied hinges didn't have compensating adjustments. I spent a lot of time trying to figure out how the heavy door was causing this distortion. At first I thought the hinge leaves were twisting but after replacement with more substantial ones the problem persisted. It seems the plastic part of the door or (less likely) the extruded sides must be twisting from the doors cantilevered load. If you didn't receive the 3 way adjustable hinges with your cabinet, Kohler lists them as replacement parts and sent to me at no cost. I however bought: 35mm cabinet hinges with 1-1/4" overlay. I used the Everbilt ones (Home Depot) which are self-closing, not just 'soft closing' like the new Kohler ones. If you use non Kohler hinges (not the DTC brand they supply) you may need to replace the screw that attaches the hinge to the cabinets aluminum side (permanently attached washer is oversized and prevents fitting screw in hinge). I bought 8-32x3/8 Lng screws with 3/8" dia flat washers. By fully adjusting the in /out screws on top and bottom of door AND loosening screws attaching hing to sides while rotating door and tightening (theres some slop) I was able to get both rubber bumper to touch the frame with installed cabinet's door in closed position.. This was quite a research project, and i'm still not 100% clear on how the cabinet twists in this way.

Good replacement for old medicine cabinet

This was chosen by me as it would fit the wall opening space of 14x18 inch opening. I did not want to mess with having to rebuild the opening. It fit nicely and the four screws holds it securely. I am not sure about how long its luster and newness will last as it is made of aluminum. The aluminum is thin but may be adequate. The glass shelves look sturdy and makes the clips push against the edges which is good. It opens 110 degrees which I did not want as it almost hits the wall. I asked Kohler for where I could get a hinge restriction part - they were prompt in responding but with no internal or external solution. These hinge restriction parts are not universal, so one cannot just put any after market arbitrary part in the hinge. This is an issue they need to resolve. For what it is, it is slightly more expensive than other equivalent models but the name brand of Kohler was assuring.

Great mirror, but needs one little update...

This mirror went up pretty easily, but you will still want to have a small level to make sure it's....level. We replaced an existing mirror so that part wasn't an issue. The quality overall is nice, but i wish it was a little more low profile (lowest I could find for this size and quality). I also worry a little bit about what others said in regards to the mirror losing adhesion. So far we are fine on that. YOU WILL WANT TO DO THIS STEP: find a small little pad that you would use to make cabinet doors not slam. The size of a pencil eraser. They are super cheap and easy to find. Put that between the space between the back of the hinge (see pic) to prevent it from opening all the way. This will keep it from opening up and hitting your wall.

I bought 2 of the Kohler 16" x 20" medicine cabinets for the bathroom remodel in my last home in 2013. I was happy to find out that they were still available when I moved. I bought 2 more for the bathrooms in my new home. These are really pretty and sleek - the inside is fully mirrored, both behind the glass shelves and on the inside of the door.

Lovely Upgrade

Let's see . . . 5 stars for the product itself. It is lovely, modern, sleek and closes nicely. Now, ZERO stars for shipping. The first one arrived totally smashed. Had to return to Amazon - also zero stars. Hauling a big package to the depot for return was not appreciated. Perhaps next time just a picture of the damage and I send to recycyling/landfill? The second one arrived with a cracked mirror, another zero star rating. I called Kohler who sent a new door that arrived intact and in pristine condition. 10 stars for Kohler and their customer service excellence.

Nice vanity. Small enough to fit between standard 16" on centre framing. If you're lucky, this will allow you to do a lot less work if flush mounting the unit. Easy, straight forward install. Only knock on this is the price. I noticed it about $20 cheaper at Home Depot after I received it.

Koehler has excellent customer service

I had the cabinet installed when I did a full renovation of my ensuite bathroom. The pins for the shelves were not included in the box. I called Koehler and they sent out new shelves and pins, unfortunately the pins would not fit in the installed cabinet. I called back and the correct pins were on back order so they sent me a whole new cabinet. All I needed was the pins but they didn’t want to make me wait for a solution. Outstanding customer service I will buy their products every time.

Perfect for our new ensuite bath

Was originally backordered and arrived about 2 months after ordering. But because we were renovating a bathroom, the slow delivery proved no problem. Was worth the wait as it was a great choice of cabinet. Easy and clean built-in install. Quality materials. 1 year later and no problems with corrosion due to high shower moisture adjacent to the cabinet. Half the price of local big box store pricing.
