I love this fixture!

Eerie light

I really wanted to love this lighting fixture. I am redecorating my bathroom and I really wanted it to have a submarine theme. The product description claimed this was for indoor or outdoor use so I thought I'd give it a try. Unfortunately it just doesn't work indoors. It is too large for an indoor light fixture, and the tone of light it emits gives everything an institutional sickly green tinge. I would happily have changed the lightbulb yo fix this problems, but you can't. The lightbulb is an enclosed LED. Also, because it is really meant to be mounted outdoors it doesn't mount on to an indoor mounting bracket very easily. It was fiddly to install, and while the instructions were clear and it came with the tools needed to install it, it felt like you needed 4 hands to get it in easily. You can wall mount it or ceiling mount it, if you so desire. It is not meant to be used with a dimmer. When used with a normal switch there is a delay of a couple of seconds between flicking the switch and the light turning on. Overvall this is a decent light for outdoor use, but the tone of the LEDs is just too harsh to want to use it in the home.

Very Bright

This is a fairly heavy duty light. I immediately noticed the weight when I took it out of the package. It feels like it weighs a good 5 lbs. The cage and the glass globe disconnect from the main electrical portion, which does help with the installation. It can be mounted as shown in the picture or it can be mounted from the ceiling, without the curved base. I selected this for my backyard. I play ball with my dogs every night after dark, but my old litht just didn't provide enough brightness. This light advertises that it projects 600 lumens, which is quite a lot. It is LED, so you will never have to replace a light bulb. I suppose once it burns out you have to replace the whole fixture, hopefully that will be years away. Mounting it was relatively easy. My only complaint was that you have to take out these four tiny screws to get to the wires inside, and then thread them through a quarter-size hole. This was just a giant pain in the butt. The manufactures did include a tiny tool for loosening and tightening the screws, but that didn't make the process less tedious. The other problem I had was, the width of the screws on the fixture were much larger than my electrical box. I ended up having to screw the fixture directly into the stucco of my house. Installation required an impact drill, the anchors that came with the light, and a rubber mallet to gently Hammer the anchors into the stucco once I had drilled a pilot hole with my impact drill. Due to the larger spacing of the screws on the fixture, the installation took me a little longer than expected. I was pleasantly surprised by how bright this picture is. In fact I'm waiting for one of my neighbors to complain about how bright it is. It's bright enough that I have made it a point to remember to turn it off once I come inside. Overall, it's a very sturdy product, that provides a ton of light. I would definitely recommend.

Nice Light, if you Like that Industrial Look

LED technology. 50,000 claimed hours of light (as always, I’m a bit skeptical about those numbers – from experience). 600 Lumens. The glass globe is frosted which makes it easy on the eyes. Installation is easy if you have done things like this before. This fixture is probably a bit overkill for our basement stairs – but it looks good there. Apropos looks: The seller calls it “stylish.” That is debatable. It has a rugged, basic industrial look and if you want to use it in a retail setting, you should think twice about where to place it. If I am not mistaken, vapor-tight lights were once commonly used in mining so that explosive gases could not reach the flame. It’s a mystery to me what the purpose of vapor tightness is in this fixture – unless it’s for price-upping hype. Be assured, you certainly won’t need that feature.

Great Product

I'm turning this over to my husband. Here are his thoughts: I've always been a fan of these industrial looking lights. Love the fact there is a cage over the glass cover to protect it from being broken. We live in Florida and the weather here can be unpredictable. Never know when some debris is going to go sailing across the yard. This kit comes with everything you need to mount it, and the process is straight forward. Mount the box to the wall, wire it, attach the light to the box, and done. We have 2 of these style lights already but they are not LED. Also ours do not have the 90 degree downward turn, so instead they simply protrude off the side of the house. This light is so much more stylish. The glass cover is frosted, so the light disperses evenly. It's pretty bright. It illuminated the side yard just fine. We have it set up over the pool pump in case we have to do something in that area after dark and need lighting. It appears to be sealed well from the elements with gaskets. This is an easy 5 star light. Will be switching the other 2 lights we have to the LED style very soon.

Easy to install, all hardware included, indoor/outdoor.

Industrial/steampunk appearance goes well in both utilitarian environments as well as contemporary home/office spaces. The product is well made with heavy duty powder-coated exterior and wiring that can exit the unit at top/bottom or either side of the housing, as well as directly from the rear if the unit is to be mounted on an existing wall box. Everything is water-tight so this is perfect outside the garage as well as on the wall of your loft. The unit has four LEDs that shoot perpendicularly relative to the mounting, and you could easily mount this so the glass points up or to the sides if that is your whim. The frosted glass does a nice job distributing the light evenly. Color temperature is right in the middle between yellow-white and blue-white, so it is neither overly warm nor overly harsh. With a 15 watt draw, this isn't as bright as a floodlight but is perfect as a porch light or equivalent type of installation.
