I am a professional electrician and I ordered 4 of these for a recent job. First off, once they are wired and on the wall they are great, mostly, however getting to that point has been a bit of a hassle. Firstly, the tails that come on this fixture a fairly short, now this is fine if you have a junction box already installed and you are simply replacing a fixture. However in my case I am mounting these in various areas where I am not able to install a junction box, birck face, metal clad building etc. In this situation the tails are far to short. However I was able to open up the device and install significantly longer tails to make it work. Not a huge deal since this is an abnormal mounting situation. (be sure to use appropriate conduit in this case to satisfy code). My real issue came when one of these fixtures would not turn off, ever, even after shining a powerful flashlight directly into the sensor. It worked fine the first day but two days later after I had covered the junction box with drywall and mud it began acting up. Now I have pulled drywall off again and installed on of the others I ordered and am awaiting the replacement Amazong is sending. If you are a homewowner interested in replacing an existing fixture, 4/5. If you are a pro looking for a cheaper fixture for a client, encourage them to splurge for a higher grade fxiture that will last and work right the first time, 3/5. Also, amazon customer support is 5/5 as always.

A Bright Ego-friendly Entryway Light

This is a very nice outside light. It only uses 10 watts and provides a nice wide light coverage. The day / night switch circuit is well designed and switches cleanly with no flicker. This is due to the photo sensor being shielded from the light and the proper use of circuit hysteresis. I only gave it four stars for two reasons: 1. The mounting system was not to my liking ... no big deal. 2. If the 120 VAC power flickers ( due to the local power company messing with the line) the light may latch off. It will not reset by cycling the 120 VAC power; this was at night time. In order to reset the light under these conditions you must shine a light on the sensor and the sensor circuit magically works again.

A Lot of Light for the Money

One person's review on this lamp persuaded me to purchase this one above all the others. For the price I paid for this lamp it's made excellently. One of the features that was highlighted was that it was reviewed as "extremely bright." As you can see by the photo, they are right on target. We have no street lamps so this is exactly what I was looking for. There is no removable bulb but a really great recessed LED assembly. The plastic bowl screws right off and the installation was no more than 15 minutes. I didn't want an annoying sensor light and just a dusk to dawn lamp.

I am very pleased. Well made, easy install, very bright and not as sensitive as my old one . Which I like that way it doesn’t come on when a cloud moves over.

Good lamp, Defective light sensor

This looks like the perfect front porch light, cast metal so it can be spray painted to any color, solid sealed one piece construction, And Super easy to install, which made me laugh as they offer installation from a local electrician for $120. "Yup, $120 to install a $35 lamp" But after I quickly installed this lamp on my front porch, and the sun began to set, it started to strobe wildly,, flashing like my security alarm was tripped. I read the instructions and it vaguely mentions malfunctions caused by reflecting light from surrounding surfaces. So I put some black electrical tape across the top and front of the sensor dome to prevent multiple input from light reflecting off the ceiling on my porch roof.,,,,Seems to work for now.

JUNK!????

I hooked up this light and all it would do was flash on and off, despite following the troubleshooting in the instructions. I even tried it in a COMPLETELY dark environment, still flashed on and off, so this light is complete garbage. Off it goes back, another crappy chinese product????
