Surface wash only?

The only reason I didn't give 5 stars is because the tag says this doll is surface wash only. I would love to throw this doll into my wash machine, and I just might do it anyway. I couldn't decide between Baby Stella & Rosy Cheeks Baby, so I ordered them both. My daughter is 15mo now. Rosy Cheeks Baby is for 3yrs+, but she seemed like she would be an acceptable toy for a 1yr old. Rosy Cheeks Baby PROS: she is made of a softer fabric CONS: Her hair is made of something that feels somewhat like real hair and I wouldn't want my child putting that hair in her mouth, and at 1yr old she will put it in her mouth. She has a little pink bow loosely sewn into her hair, it slides out pretty easily and could be eaten by your child. Rosy Cheeks Baby is more plush and lighter weight than Baby Stella. Not sure if the hospital bracelet could come off, if so, I see that as something a child may eat. Baby Stella PROS: no small parts for child to eat, her hair is made of the same fabric as her body CONS: tag says surface wash only. Soft, but not as soft as Rosy Cheeks Baby Baby Stella has a little weight to her, she is partly filled with beans - or something of the like. A fellow mom commented to me that it helps Baby Stella feel more "real", that she has some weight to her. My daughter refused pacifiers so I threw Baby Stella's paci away, she probably wouldn't know what it was for anyway (I figure it's just something for a child to lose anyway). Baby Stella "won" based on the hair and the bow. I might buy a second one to keep at daycare. My daughter became instantly attached to her "baby". She absolutely LOVES Stella. She rocks her, hugs her, kisses her, talks to her, burps her and snuggles with her. One of the other little girls at daycare wants my daughter's Baby Stella too. So daycare suggested to the other mom that maybe she pick one up for her daughter too. Stella is a popular baby! :)

I LOVE STELLA. My twin baby 9-month olds are getting used to her

I know I'm supposed to tell how much my children love this toy. The fact is I love Baby Stella. It's the first doll I've bought for my baby 9-month old twins, and they're still a little skeptical. Stella is about a foot tall (Product Description says 15 inches but mine is 12). My babies haven't seen anything like this before, and she looks like them in a way. They hold Stella as if they love her and then they throw her. They also like to pull Stella's pacifier off. That's fun for them. This pacifier is way too big for my babies' mouths so it's not dangerous at this stage. You can loop your finger or thumb through the handle of the pacifier. The pacifier has a magnet and locks on pretty tightly to Stella's mouth. My babies are not at the stage where they try to put the pacifier back on. Stella's belly and feet feel as if she has little round crunchy things inside like barley or buckwheat. All the rest of her (head, arms and legs) are made of thick foam inside. She has seven tiny strips coming out of the top of her head - her hair. They like to put any part of her in their mouths and we wonder if they're kissing Stella. They haven't discovered that they can take her clothes, including her diaper off. Those are held by velcro in some places, but in a way that seems seamless. I think it will be awhile before they find that out. My guess is they'll love this doll as much as I do. And I've never loved a doll either. It's just such a joy to buy your girl's first doll. Others have said I should get two. I hadn't thought of that earlier for some reason. If you see me with another review and that Amazon Verified Purchase logo, you'll know what happened. Update January 14, 2014: This doll lasted until December 2013 - a long time. The few thick hair strands and the pacifier were the first things to disappear. After about 2 years the clothes disappeared. About that time, other dolls replaced Stella as favorites. Our Stella endured many machine washings and one of my girls took it everywhere while it was her favorite.

She’s a cutie!

Our son is obsessed with his Manhattan baby and we hoped the little girl would be just as cute for our daughter. This baby does not disappoint! Just as cuddly, sturdy, washable and sweet as big brother’s lovey!

Great Purchase

I bought this doll for my granddaughters 1st birthday. She absolutely loved it and took to snuggling with it right away. She's been sleeping with it every night and dragging it around everywhere! Great purchase.

Not light brown hair

The doll I got has blonde hair. It is fine, she is still sweet baby Stella, but I had hoped for something a little different. My daughter has a wee baby with blonde hair already.

I want this doll & I’m73yrs. old! She’s adorable!!

This doll was a wonderful gift for my little great - granddaughter’s 2nd birthday & couldn’t have been a better age appropriate doll! It’s so soft & cuddly, plus the pacifier being magnetic is so safe for a little one. The price was very reasonable too, for such a wonderful doll.

PERFECT doll!!!!!

My daughter has no interest in dolls - i read the reviews and just had to try one last time. Or daughter is 2 1/2yrs The package arrived and we let her open and upon seeing Baby Stella (and the feeding set we also purchased) She squealed in excitement "Whats that!!?!!?" Baby Stella has been with her since last week non stop - to daycare to bed to wanting to bring her in the bath Love that i can throw her in the wash Only issue was the diaper's Velcro was not properly sewn so the moment she went to change the baby it was useless but that's an easy fix for a sewer (which i am not) I'll be purchasing Stellas bath tub set next - She's a WONDERFULLY soft baby doll

GORGEOUS CUDDLY DOLLY !

This doll is gorgeous. Bought it for my one year old Granddaughter and it is going to be posted off to Australia ! Tempted to buy one for myself as I just keep looking at it ! Love the magnetic dummy and I shall certainly be buying the accessories at a later date . Item was delivered quickly spoilt only by Yodel carrier who left it on front doorstep 6ft away from pavement and busy main road while we were away for weekend!! How it wasn t pinched I do not know as it sat there for nearly 30 hours parcel wet thro ! And he had the cheek to put on his card hed left it in safe place in porch! We do not even have a porch!! Not Amazons fault tho - Very satisfied with doll NOT the carrier service - Amazon need to sack Yodel !

Grand-daughter loves it

Looked for ages to find a plaything that is suitable for a 2 year old that hopefully will not be at the bottom of the toybox in 2 weeks. As this has lots of accessories that you can buy to go with the doll then hopefully she will not get bored with it to quickly. Lost a star as it did not come supplied with change of outfit and that magnetic dummy will easily get lost as not fitted with some cord or ribbon of some sort, otherwise a good buy.

Great first doll

I bought two of these dolls. Both girls were having there first birthday. Both could hardly wait to have them taken out of the box, when they were able to hold them both gave them big hugs. These are great first dolls, very soft, clothes come off they have a diaper. Yes would highly recommend as first doll.
