Mitutoyo – Simply the Best!

This review is for Mitutoyo 186-905, Radius Gage Set, 8 Leaves, 9/16" to 1" by 16ths, 5 Radii per Leaf. I purchased this set (six-year-ago) to use for measuring the bending radius at corners of square/rectangular hollow structural sections (for research purposes) and needed a fairly broad range of radius sizes, so I purchased this set and a couple other (smaller radii) Mitutoyo sets. I am extremely glad that I invested in something of quality – seven years later the set looks just as it did when purchased (brand new). During the same time, I also purchased a similar set of different Radii from MSC and the difference is drastic. The Mitutoyo gages still look beautiful while the other set (which is made in China, but not cheap) developed multiple rust spots, even though I cleaned and oiled all my sets routinely. If you plan on having your radius gage set for a long time and would recommend investing in this Mitutoyo set – although not cheap, I’m sure you’ll be happy and glad that you purchased these for many years to come.
