Good Allergy Duvet Cover

This duvet cover had an odor that concerned me, I unzipped it and then soaked it in the washer with a cup of baking soda, for 24 hours. Since, I could still smell an odor I decided to soaked it in Bragg's apple cider vinegar for 24 hours, then I washed and dried it. Still I could detect an odor, so I ran it through the wash with a 1/4 cup of bleach and dried it. Most of the odor was finally gone. I bought this cover for a wool/alpaca blanket that I want to make sure, doesn't get pet dander in it and protects it from piling . Anyhow, the duvet cover really does work as barrier of protection for dander and dust mites.

Be VERY careful with the sizes

I ordered a twin and ordered Amazon's twin-sized duvet as well as a cute twin-sized kawaii duvet cover. The duvet cover fit the duvet fine, in fact was about 8 inches or so too wide...not too big of a deal, but dust mite cover was about 8" too narrow, so I haven't been able to use it at all. Not sure why it isn't a standard size, but be really sure of your sizing before you ordered. By the time I got the others ordered and got them put together this was beyond it's return date, so I'm stuck with it.

Perfect for what we wanted! Washes great too

These are what we wanted. They are true white and have a thick “cottony” feel and look. We have washed them often and they look and feel as they did after first wash! We plan to buy a few more to keep the same look on all our duvets. We have a medium dog that loves them as well and her fur wipes right away it doesn’t go inside either! They are not a quiet cover but we love them anyway!

Strong chemical smell

I like the idea of an allergy proof duvet cover. Before use, I washed the cover as listed on the instructions yet, it still has a strong chemical smell, even after 5 days and a prolonged airing session. The cover is crinkly and rough but that is what is expected for this type of item. I covered it with a separate fabric duvet cover to improve the feel but I can still smell the chemicals from this duvet cover. Update: After 2 additional washes, the odor lessened when I added a 1/4 cup of bleach. All thanks go to the previous customer review that shared this tip.

Does the job, mediocre comfort

I needed this for my severe dust allergy and it definitely does it’s job. However, it kind of feels like a hotel bed sheet. You get used to it after a while but it’s definitely not the softest thing in the world

Seems well made

Cotton is very heavy, in fact makes my comforter too hot. Upside is it's dense and so appears to be adequate for protection from dust mites.

Excellent!

I purchased two of these pillow covers and the duvet cover which is also made by Allersoft. Both are lovely, excellent quality. I will be purchasing more of these for the rest of the household pillows. Recently, I was reminded of how gross dust mites can bee to the beds and pillows. It's one of those things that people hear over the years and might try to ignore (I have in the past). Something triggered in me this time, though, and I was on a mission to seal all of the items we sleep on. I did not want to get rid of my favorite feather/down pillows but couldn't stand the thought of what is in them after 10 years. I took a chance and washed them in my front loading washing machine on the sanitize cycle, extra hot water, with bleach, 3 times each (my husband was shaking his head a lot through this whole process). I figured if they didn't fall apart, we were good for another ten years! I dried them in the dryer with a few tennis balls. Then, placed them outside on a non-humid, dry, sunny day in the sun for a few hours. I then encased them in two of these covers. And, I will be purchasing an additional duvet cover to go over the top of the other duvet cover. I purchased the Allersoft duvet as a protectant layer/dust mite barrier for the down comforter and then was going to purchase some other duvet topper. But I like the look of the white duvet so much (and it is really great quality), I thought I will keep all the bed linens white. When I started looking for just a plain white duvet cover to go over the Allersoft layer, they were just as much or more for what I am sure would be a lesser quality (duvet was around $75 for king size). I know it sounds a little excess, but, by covering the allergy layer with another white, Allersoft cover, I can wash that additional layer as much as I want without worrying about degrading the fabric. The care instructions state to only wash twice a year which with those instructions and reviews elsewhere leads me to believe that the tight weave of this fabric, which is what makes it the allergen barrier, could start to loosen up after repeated washings. I am extremely happy these are 100% cotton and made in the USA.

Keeps duvet clean

I have two large dogs who love to snuggle in bed. This cover has saved our duvet. we have not had one leak from mishaps. The cover is easy to put on and large enough that there is no need to wrestle the duvet inside

thick cotton, but very noisy

this was advertised as noiseless. but very very noisy when one moves in bed. Although I was pleased to find an allergy/dust mite duvet cover that was 100% cotton ..noise is a big issue for me when I sleep. This was not a cheap investment, but it's way too noisy. Not happy.

Wonderful Product!

This dust mist cover works perfectly. Luxurious feel to it. It's got some weight to it. Like having two thick sheets. I personally like sleeping with weighty blankets so this is not a problem. I really like the small ties in the corners to keep the duvet in place inside the cover. That was an unexpected, simple, and appreciated feature! If you are looking for a dust mite cover for a duvet, this is a great product.

keeps the feathers in

I bought a beautiful down goose feather duvet for $$$. It was comfortable and warm and light at the same time but cleaning the father's drive me crazy. I found this product online and it saved my sanity. The feathers stay in mostly. Only a very few escape which doesn't require more cleaning than I would without them.

Good quality and I really like that these are cotton

As advertised. Good quality and I really like that these are cotton. I'm not sure how much they've helped with my allergies as I did a bunch of other things at the same time. Seems to be keeping the feathers from poking out of my duvet. I think the $92.00 CAD price tag is a bit steep but I didn't find anything similar elsewhere (however maybe you can if you look harder?)
