NUVO Review

First product did not last more than 8 weeks. When I reached out, the company mailed a new one right away. I have had no issues with this replaced item and this is what I call "customer service" by making things right. I didn't even have to hassle with sending the old one back.

Marginal Design

First unit failed out of the box after less than 5 minutes of operation. Amazon shipped replacement immediately. I put an LED bulb in the new unit, using the theory that the design of the light fixture (AC/DC converter and regulator) is marginal, and knowing that the LED bulb pulls less then a tenth of the current as the bulb replaced. So far, I have about 4 hours of operating time with no issue. I do not believe that these units are as robust as the unit it replaced.

They work, but are very fragile.

You have to be so, so careful with these. The connector that goes into the rail is really, really brittle. Any kind of off-axis torque on the connector WILL break it. I've broken 2 out of 6 that I ordered. Superglue fixed one but the other was beyond salvage. I won't be buying these next time. Cheap chinese garbage. EDIT- here we are, 2 years after my review and 10 years after I bought them. Out of 6, 4 have broken. This is unacceptable. I've managed to superglue them back together. These latest to fail, failed while they were already hung on the track! And I use 20W MR16 on a dimmer.. it's not like I"m overheating them. These are unacceptable. They were garbage when new, and they're crumbling garbage now! Deducted TWO of the meager three stars I'd given them. They're garbage.

Matches older fixtures

This was a replacement for one fixture in a track light with 3 more lights. It matched and I was easy to replace the old fixture.

Everything works well but had to give it a 4 because it is shorter than the existing lights. Drives me nuts but no one else notice the difference.

Melted by 50 watt lamp

I had my first occasion to replace a 50w lamp in one of these fixtures. The fixture had been bent out of shape by the heat of the lamp, so it partly fell apart as I tried to install the replacement lamp. Then I discovered the lamp burning out seems to have taken the 12v transformer with it. This might work OK with a lower-wattage halogen bulb or maybe an LED lamp, but it isn't up to anything hotter.

Right on track

This head snaps in easily to standard lighting track and works great with LED bulbs and an LED-compatible dimmer switch..

Fit an older, existing track light! Great price and they list which brands and model numbers are compatible.

Good reliable fixture

Good fixture, does the job and reasonably priced. A bit bulkier than some of my other fixtures but not a deal breaker
