Nice product, but has limited stength (bolts shear too easily).

Bought 2 of these 6x6 post bands to evaluate for using in our log cabin that has exposed 6x6 posts that have some splitting going on. Product looks nice for a cabin. My only complaint is that the 1/4" x 20 bolts used to draw the 4 sides tight are too easily broken/sheared. As a woodworker, the moment I unpacked the first band, I thought "wow, those bolts look too skinny". The first band installed ok, and I tightened it pretty good, figuring I'd tighten it more over time as conditions permitted (e.g. humidity). On the 2nd band I installed, one of the 1/4" x 20 bolts sheared/broke. I was only using a 1/4" ratchet set, so I didn't think it would be too likely to break. So - don't plan on using these bands to close any splits. I think they are better suited on brand new posts to *prevent* splits - not to remedy existing splits... Since there doesn't seem to be any comparable products on the market, I will likely still buy more of these - but I'll buy some stronger/harder 1/4" x 20 (1.5" length) screws...

Not good quality for the price - breaks when tigjtened

I purchased these to address cracking in my 6 x 6 cedar posts. Not only were they difficult to tighten, but started slipping threads. I had to get replacement screws from Home Depot when heads popped under the pressure. Not a good design for what they are intended to do, but unfortunately not a lot of good alternatives.

Solid Product That Looks Good!

It’s a solid product that looks good on a gazebo I built. They make a nice product but the manufacturer is always on back order when I needed to purchase more.

Wait! And save some money!

I like this product I recently purchased 2 off of Amazon and I need/want 8 more but after some research HomeDepot has these for $10 less. So if you do not mind waiting a few weeks you might want to look into that as an option.
