Good product, universal fit, be prepared to modify to fit your application.

I installed these on Lifetime/Emotion Guster recreational kayaks, took about one hour total. I agree with the other reviews regarding the included instructions. Just throw them away. For those complaining about the difficulty of install or how the instructions mislead them. This is a modification to your kayak, be prepared to modify both your kayak and the rod holder for your specific application. I drilled a 2 inch whole, then made it oblong with a rotary tool, had to remove some excess plastic tabs on the underside of the rod holder, and finally for fit and finish I used a heat gun to contour the rod holders to the shape of my kayaks hull. I opted for machine nuts and bolts over the included rivets.They look factory installed and seem super sturdy. Will likely order 2 more for the other side of each kayak.

Worked great on my pelican kayak.

Would like a hook on the base so I can bunji the rod in the holder. Seems like it holds the right very well but I did lose a rod out of it . probably brushed under a tree limb and pulled it out.

Good product but did not use

Received but decided not to use. Going to use on a Pescador 12.0. Yak fits much better due to spacing on the holes. This looks to be a good product though.

Matched perfect.

Matched perfectly with the original Pelican rod holder. You have to pull out the foam which can be a little challenging but doable. Also, the inside washers for the rivets can be hard to hold while riveting. I did it by myself but I'd get some assistance from someone with skinny long arms if possible.

Useless hardware.

I purchased two of these fishing rod holders primarily as they came with custom rivets from pelican for my pelican mission 100 kayak. I purchased them in June this year. Made two holes and fit the fish rod holders with the given rivets as per instructions and YouTube videos that are available online. A few trips on the water (without fishing rods that is) and the rivets pop out from the first rod holder. The hole is from the first rod holder popping out. Then a few days later one rivet of the second rod holder pops out while the jayak is lying upside down on the rack in ourbackyard. Completely useless. Lucky I did not use the foshing rods on it or they would have been lost. Interestingly I purchased this as my kayak is a sit in recreational kayak and I thought rivets are perhaps the strongest thing to hold the hodlers in place jnstea do screws and nut bolts and also because j can not reach out to the inside to tighten the nuts. Now I am left with two gaping holes in my kayak, popped out rod holders and not knowing what to do. The fitting hardware provided is poor quality.

Use your own hardware

These rod holders work great in my Pelican kayak. I agree with other reviewers who suggest you use your own hardware. I was able to get my arm inside my kayak enough to use bolts, nuts and, lock washers.

Very cheap rivets. Use your own.

The process itself is simple. The rivets caused me some headache. Just go get yourself some high quality rivets and you’ll be fine. Pelican should no longer include these as they are complete garbage. Ide drill these ones out if I wasn’t concerned the drill bit would wander into the softer kayak. Time will tell as to how they will hold up.

Works well

Is easy to install if you have the right tools. You should have access to a rivet gun, keyhole drill bit and your favourite sealant.

Rod holder kyak upgrade without the cost

This is a great add on by Pelican. Kids so happy we could get stock matching rod holder for our Pelican kyak. Great price. Easy install. Would have had to by more expensive kyak to get with rod holders, so happy there is this option.
