A good looking light that's well built.

Bought these to put on columns at the ends of our wing walls. Here's our take: CONSTRUCTION: These are solidly built lights. Heavy gauge metal with a nice heavy powder coat that looks like it will handle the elements nicely. The glass is thick and doesn't appear to be brittle. The top comes off (with screws on the underside of the lip) to allow bulb access, and there's enough room even for big hands to get in there (though it's tight). INSTALLATION: They are fairly easy to install, so if you've installed any light fixtures before, these should be no problem. Some install notes: - Make sure you have the top "hanger" pointed in the way you want it before you install, otherwise you'll need to take the top off to adjust it. - If you're installing on a column or other surface instead of a pole, you'll need to get a pier base, which needs to be solid (check out HD) and not flimsy (sorry Lowe's) due to the heft of these lights. - Also, if using a pier base you'll want to have as much wire coming out of your junction box as needed to clear the pier base. Otherwise, you'll be twisting and wire-nutting them together inside the pier base, which is very tight and difficult. - The set screws didn't dig in to the pier base enough to hold them tight, so I got some longer screws at the store. This may only be a problem with this pier base, don't know how they'd work with a pole. Overall, nothing surprising in the install, and there's plenty of wire length to work with on these lights. PRESENTATION: I use these with dusk-to-dawn bulbs, and they have worked great with these fixtures so far. The seeded glass doesn't do much to diffuse the light, so the 60w equivalent bulbs we use are just about as much as I'd want in there. I think that faux-flame bulbs might do well in these, but I haven't tried them. These lights have a clean, attractive design that would complement most architectural styles. OVERALL: These lights are well made and handsome, and can be installed by anyone with experience doing so. Recommended.

More "frosted" than seeded

We bought the Emliviar brand of outdoor lights for our garage and front porch, but the matching lamp post was too small. I was pleased to find that the Progress Lighting post was very similar in design and looks to be a close match. Unfortunately I found that the glass was more "frosted" vs "seeded" which was a little disappointing. I think seeded glass has a more modern/upscale look to it whereas frosted looks a bit dated. Still, it was a good size and match so we decided to keep it. Was much more expensive than the alternatives, but worth it in the end.

Matches with our other lights great

Like the light and it matches with our outdoor wall sconces but wish it had a bottom on it. Just afraid some bugs might go in there

Great replacement for pole light

We had an electrician install, it was purchased to update lighting on the outside of our house. It was a different brand than wall sconces but goes great.

Classy and unique with quality

Beautiful and simple. Feels sturdy with reasonable weight. Nicely finished. More expensive than most of what you can find at a local hardware store chain, but seems like better quality while providing a unique touch to my property.

Large modern lighting
