the best
I'll start of with the fact that I'm in my 70's...so I've deal with quite a few propane grills in my life. This is the best. A perfect size for just two people and when the grand kids show up, there's enough top to cook for all. The way it collapses and the weight work for me. I'm writing this three years after we bought it to take in our travel trailer. We still like it as much as the first time we used it. This grill gets as hot or hotter than any I've had before...and quickly. No stupid lava rocks or any other B/S. We use a couple of tops...the griddle ones that came with, and flat for cooking fish. The flexibility in using one, two or all three burners is a plus even with the adjustable heat control. I did modify ours to use tanks other than the green one pound. A definite must. Don't forget to clean it tho.

Works well but takes time to clean up!!
Bought this grill to take with us camping after doing quite a bit of research on portable propane grills. I'll admit up front that I'm a grill master and a grill snob. Have taken it on 4 camping trips grilling steaks, salmon, brauts, chops, chicken, corn on the cob, potatoes, other veggies and several breakfasts. Used it to grill burgers at the in-laws on Labor Day. It is the 1st grill I've ever owned with a "water pan" grease catch and that definitely takes some getting used to (especially if you forget it's there and slosh water/grease everywhere when you move it.) That said, I do understand why it is designed with the water pan and once you get used to it, it works really well for cleaning up prior to transporting it. I would have given it 3.5 stars overall if 1/2 stars were an option. Bottom line, it does what is advertised and it is portable, both of which were must-haves to me. I'm satisfied with the purchase and have accepted it will take extra time to clean up before transport. So, here are my thoughts on the Roadtrip 285. Tip: most importantly - it definitely takes practice to get used to cooking on this grill - if you cook on anything but low on all 3 burners you will burn your food. I frequently grill with only the center burner or only the 2 side burners. Absolutely recommend practicing with less expensive foods like burgers and dogs a few times before getting creative. Pros - It's light weight, easy to assemble and folds into a relatively small-ish space with wheels for rolling; with 3 burners it heats up very quickly (and I do mean VERY - like 0 to 500F in 3 minutes); it has plenty of cooking space and has various grill tops that swap out easily; cooks very well once you are used to it; can use both 1 lb and 15 lbs (with attachment) propane bottles. Cons - takes quite a bit of time to clean up after use or before moving; water pan makes a royal mess if you forget it is there when you move grill and end up sloshing water/grease all over your feet and the ground; pain in the butt trying to find somewhere to dump water pan contents after cooking; plastic handles are cheaply made and installed; hinges seem extremely flimsy and are loose after 2 months of use (poor design with cheap rivets); locking mechanism for lid is a very poor design and mostly ineffective (I now use a bungee cord); will empty a 1 lb propane bottle grilling 2 meals; it's pretty darn expensive ($$$) for what it actually is (I'm thinking it should be in the $150 price range.)

Bad shipment
The box had a hole in it at the bottom corner and bottom of box was soaking wet. When I was assembling it I noticed the legs where assembled upside-down. So I unassembled it and correctly assembled it. The package showed it arrived at the ups warehouse in my area on Saturday and it was delivered on Monday. Package was scheduled for Friday delivery, so it was 3days late. I cant give more stars till I use it camping.

Handy
The media could not be loaded. I camp a lot and live in a rental with no back door so I wanted a grill I can wheel out of the garage to the driveway and the bonus is I can fold and take it camping. Works great, however the drip pan full of greasy water could be an inconvenience to dispose of when camping. I guess it can just be dumped into the trash carefully once cooled.

Great little grill
Overall we like this very much but didn’t give it 5 stars for the same reason someone else pointed out that the cover lid lock is not very good so you have to be careful not to tilt the grill up straight when moving it or the lid will pop open and the grates fall out so only lift it enough to roll it. Also make sure the legs are positioned properly before grilling.

No pan replacement available.
I love this grill and I love Coleman products. But had I done more research and known that the water pan part cannot be replaced I would not have purchased it. Subsequently I will not purchase the second one I was going to buy. It’s a great little grill, however this is a perfect example of planned obsolescence. I’m disappointed that Coleman would do this. I’ve bought their products for 45 years plus as they are the best camping products (in my opinion) for the best price out there. However due to this, I’m rethinking that. Sorry Coleman, but what other reason would you not offer this part? Thank you.☮️
