Who doesn't love wishing wells?

My wife absolutely loves this wishing well. Despite some minor and forgiveable flaws (e.g., barely noticable imperfect alignment of the wood on the base and roof), for the money, this 4 ft tall wishing well is hard to beat. My 73 yo hands and eyes found assembly to be a cinch. Prior to assembly, I did brush on two (2) coats of clear, weather protecting water seal. My wife is so struck by this little wishing well, that she wants to continue to admire it in the house for awhile. One really neat feature is with which you can raise and lower the wooden bucket.

Small but Cute

This was smaller than we thought, so we had to put some landscape bricks down first and the well on top to actually cover the well pipe. Easy to assemble.

Nice Product - Should Be Easier to Put Together

The final product is very attractive, sturdy and the price is right. My only complaint is that the assembly turned out to be much harder than it should. I wound up spending about an hour putting this together and it should have only taken about half that time. Some minor changes could be made to make this go smoother. This wishing well consists of six major pieces along with the hardware. It comes in a large cardboard box without any styrofoam packaging, just the large wooden pieces. It may have just been my delivery but the lower well base was damaged with two the top boards ripped away. Luckily these weren't cracked and could be easily nailed back on. The next issue I ran into was that the assembly instructions were placed under a stapled board and had to be ripped to remove. Its just a single sheet with tiny graphics that are hard to read. The roof of the wishing well comes in two halves each assembled to the base with two screws. It took a bit of adjustment (and disassembly) to get the pieces to meet correctly to keep out the rain. Initially I thought they should just fall into place but this isn't how it worked. No holes were predrilled for the screws. The bucket received was different than what appeared in the picture with tiny holes for the rope. The strands of the rope supplied easily came apart while trying to assemble this. Nylon rope might have been a better choice. The cedar wood is untreated. I added a coating of Thompsons Water Seal so that hopefully it will hold up well in the weather. Overall a nice finished product that I just wished was a little easier to do.

Good bang for your buck

The media could not be loaded. I did like the fact it was easy to assemble. I used some wood glue along with the assembly though. Some boards were broken due to the lack of inside protection. Not near enough styrofoam to protect the wood. Used wood glue on those boards also. I did however installed a fountain on the wishing well. Plus, I did burn the wood and protected the whole well with some outside wood spray.

Great well-head cover!

This is an attractive "wishing well" that replaced a 25-year old one that had fallen apart. This one looks great. The assembly instructions were buried in the box, but we figured out how to put it together with no problems. I used a wire coat hanger bent and twisted to provide support for the bucket instead of the string, so I could support a potted flowering plant at a fixed height after I had put this in place. I bought some 12" steel garden stakes to secure the base to prevent it from toppling in string winds. The design is such that the base has protruding edges which allowed me to tap in the stakes edges overlapping the wooden edges. So, I think it will withstand tropical storm winds or maybe stronger. I am pleased with this purchase!

Exactly What I Wanted

We live on a mountain, and have an ugly water well pipe that sticks out of the middle of our lawn. We had a decorative well hiding it for years, but this summer, the poor thing just gave up the fight and crumbled. So, we [meaning me] started searching for something else to take her place ... something cute, affordable, easy to put together, not too big, and sturdy. This Decorative Wishing Well definitly fit the bill, and we couldn't be more pleased. Oh, and the package it came it was impressive: well-packed: a sure sign the company cares about its product. ***We didn't paint ours, but we did add a clear sealant--only because we live in harsh temperatures and wanted to give this well a fighting chance against the elements.
