How To Achieve the 10 Step Korean Beauty Routine in 8 Steps or Less (List of Products in Order)
I recently began a quest for all the beauty products needed to achieve the youthful, dewy look ever popular in Korea in anticipation of my wedding day. (Yes, I'm an American who watches a lot of Kdramas and became supremely jealous of Kon Joon-He's character in "She Was Pretty.") I've had a fantastic experience with the new skin care regimen: huge reduction in blemishes, almost completely eliminated the pimples!!!--I just get one or two during my period--evened skin tone, and overall a cleaner, softer face. Since it's been so overwhelming to research every step on my own, I'm providing a list of all the winners so far, and in what order of the skin care/makeup routine to use them in. Hopefully this is helpful for anyone who wants to venture into the world of Korean skin care but isn't sure where to start. **Indicates the product in review. 1. Cleanser - The Face Shop: Rice Water Bright** Apply this to dry, unwashed skin and gently rub in circles to fully cleanse your face. Works as a makeup remover, but I'd recommend a different product for eye makeup removal. Rinse the oil off with lukewarm water. This is the perfect, gentle cleanser for sensitive, mixed oily/dry skin, like mine. It has a very faint smell of rice water. Not surprising, considering that's what it is. A little goes a long way, so one pump is usually enough for my entire face. Be careful not to carry it sideways in a makeup kit if the pump gets loose. I made the mistake of doing that, and got all my other products coated in rice water cleanser. ;) Oh, and that little plastic thing on the pump pops right off. It took me forever to figure it out. I kept twisting and unscrewing and finally realised you just pull the little plastic piece right off and then snap it back on when you're done for the night. :P 2. Toner/Refresher - Etude House 10-in-1 House Wonder Pore Freshener Tightens pores, and purifies skin. Apply to a cotton pad or cotton balls and then to face. Let dry. 3. Moisturiser - Skin Food Peach Sake Emulsion Pretty self-explanatory. Apply right after the toner sets in to feed your face with some moisture. 4. Serum - Skin Food Peach Sake Pore Serum A slightly more concentrated moisturiser to apply after the first. Yes, Koreans have many steps (most of them moisturising ones) in their beauty routine, I've learned. But it really does amazing things to your skin. And once you get the hang of it, applying all these products every night doesn't really take a whole lot of extra time. It also cuts back on my makeup routine in the morning, because when my skin is naturally healthy, clear, and soft, I'd rather show it off than cover it up. ;) 5. Night Cream - Nature Republic Fresh Green Tea NOTE: This particular product is not sold on Amazon. I had to buy it on sale at my local Korean market because I was too scared to order anything over $10 that I wasn't sure about. But you can find any number of night creams here for the final step. I recommend something with green tea or aloe. Just apply at night onto clean, pampered skin, rub it in thoroughly, and sleep on it! Other Cosmetics/Extras I Found Useful/Worth Purchasing: Facial Scrub - Skin Food Black Sugar Mask Use twice a week for a deeper facial cleanse than you regular cleanser. Apply a little, gently exfoliate, leave on, rinse off. If it goes on too thick, use a little water or toner to make it easier to scrub in. CC Cream - Lioele Dollish CC Cera-V CC Creams are much like BB Creams, (not a cream to match your skin colour, but a transparent foundation/primer) but if my experience with the two I've tried is any indication, CC Creams give more coverage and make the skin look more bright, white, and luminescent, rather than simply evening out the skin tone and providing SPF. Apply before any colour foundations. Highlighter - Etude House Secret Beam Highlighter #1 Pink & White Mix To be brushed on over foundation in key spots to brighten the face even further. Goes on like a sheer fairy dust--just a bit of sparkle, but not like glitter. This isn't for a Labyrinth Masquerade ball, you know. ;) Face Mist - Innisfree Green Tea Mineral Mist Face Mist is something you apply whenever you choose, before or after makeup, to keep your face hydrated and fresh throughout the day. I carry a bottle in my purse and spritz a little on whenever I feel my face is tired. :) This particular mist I haven't tried yet, because my order hasn't arrived, but I bought a Nature Republic bamboo mist from my local Korean market, and I love it a lot. Products I Didn't Think Worth the Fuss: Face Masks- These are a huge hit in Korea, and they're fun to wear around the house to get a rise out of family members who think you look creepy. But for me they're too sticky, drippy, and overrated. I prefer the clay masks or avocado masks that you have to wash off after. Expensive Serums, Essence, Bee Toxin... anything over $20 a bottle I passed up. As I've discovered, you can get really great results with just the five things I listed above, and none of them are over $15. Most are under $10.

Great
I bought this to replace my clinique take the day off makeup remover. This is an oil, so like 2 pumps will cover your whole face. I decided to try using this as a makeup remover more than a cleanser, and it works on sparkles, mascara, eyeliner, face makeup, lipstick and waterproof versions of all of the mentioned, which is basically a full face of makeups. theres no noticeable scent, and I found this is best to use as you would any other oil cleanser, before your normal face cleanser, so that you can wash the oil off.

Love! Love! Love!
I noticed a difference on my face after using this to start a double cleanse at night. It’s a soft and wonderful product. I don’t wear a lot of makeup but it removes my tinted bb creams really well. I do have to use something else to help with my mascara. I use Mac. After first use I felt like my skin had a different soft fell and overall better appearance. I pair this with a rice powder cleanser. Definitely a favorite!

Moisturizing
This is my step two of my nightly makeup removing process. It breaks down the eye makeup with a gentle wipe on a cotton pad. It easily washes off with my cleanser leaving my face soft and clean.

Great for dry skin.
I am a 48 year old female. I've done some oil cleansing, but this is definitely better. It doesn't leave your skin greasy, & I even use the moisturizer with it at night. Recommend to anyone who struggles with dry skin.

Good buy
Good face wash set for sensitive skin. Can’t say that I have seen any brightening.

Great cleansing oil
Love this product. I use it as my first step in a double cleanse. It’s perfect for this!

Washes away my waterproof mascara!
I needed a product that would melt away my waterproof mascara before washing my face. Verses other makeup remover that still leaves mascara clumps. This oil helps break down the mascara and I'll go in with a face wash after. Make sure you massage it well for a couple of minutes before rinsing.

Good for double cleansing.
Those who have given in on the new trend of double cleansing would definitely like this. I was searching for a good oil cleanser and I think my search have ended. This is a very light oil cleanser so no need to worry about pore cloging. This melts your makeup even waterproof mascara in minutes. I used to avoid using waterproof mascara as I couldn't remove mascara fully but this cleanser just removes it so easily. I know this is a korean product and most of there products are so good but this is definitely a game changer. I used to breakout whenever I used to apply makeup as the makeup couldn't get out pf my pores by just using a micellar water. Now I use this cleanser and when I apply water is get milky like a milk cleanser and washes off your makeup easily. I also use a milk cleanser after this so no makeup is left. It claims to give a brightning effect but I would just say that I didn't notice anything like that, but people might think that, as you remove all the gunk and all the oxidized makeup off your face. Now, speaking of the price of the product, it is a little expensive for the amount but it is less than any other oil cleanser in our market. Besides it is totally worth the price, but for a college student like me it can be a little costly. All the other things aside just buy it during an offer you will be good to go.

I hate this w a passion
Why did I think it was a good idea to purchase this depite it having added fragrance? Keeping aside the fragrance, I also hate how it doesn't emulsify well. I put the tiniest amount on my face and then try to remove it, it just doesn't go off well unless I use my second cleanser aggressively . Does nothing for my sebum filaments. The klairs one is so much better than this. Ugh I regret wasting my money on this.

Not what I expected.
CONS: I was told by one of the associates at the Face Shop that this would be a good dupe for Clinique Take The Day Off Cleansing Oil (which is what I normally use daily without fail but is nearly twice the price). At the store, she did try it on the back of my hand and I did love the texture and the smell. However, within a week of using it daily on my face to remove make up, I noticed my face started to feel dry (especially under my eyes and above my lip around the nose) even after I apply my usual hydrator/oil (The Ordinary 100% Plant-Derived Hemi-Squalane), which usually always keeps my skin happy. PROS: It did a good job removing make up, including my waterproof mascara (Too Faced, Better Than Sex). It felt great upon application. It has a floral-y smell which some people might find too strong but I quite liked it. STATUS: I'm back to using my Clinique Take The Day Off Cleansing Oil.

Not for everyone
I have combination to oily skin therefore I was looking for a thinner cleansing oil and its best for my skin type. This product would be ideal and perfect if it wasn't for the fact that it has a strong scent and always stings my eyes for hours after I use it which is too bad because it's not a very strong smell which smells bad its just something which my eyes find irritating. I was using this as a part of a two step cleansing routine and it always made my skin radiant and glow. Eventually I stopped using it because my eyes couldn't stand it anymore. I'm hoping in the future this company comes out with scent free products but if you aren't sensitive to scents this product might be perfect for you. Pros: - cleanses skin well - leaves skin radiant and hydrated - thinner consistency makes it easy to spread - affordable Cons: - strong smell burns eyes - oil dispenser spout arrived snapped off so not the best design
