KD tools snap ring plyers

I was unpleasantly surprised that KD tools has taken their lines to Taiwan. These piers seem like they are ok, not sure how they will hold up over time, but I'm sure I'll find out soon enough. I must say I am disappointed, but not surprised with all the American tool companies that have gone china ville. They seem to be more interested in their bottom line then listening to their customers! Anyhow I have to say good things about Amazon, wouldn't be right if I didn't atleast menthion them one in a review. As always, their service is great and my packages always arrive early or on time! Thank you Amazon.

K-D Tools 445 Internal Snap Ring Pliers

Being a truck mechanic I would give this tool an excellent review insofar that it works very well and is very reasonably priced. This is not a tool that one in my profession would use every day, but when you need it, it will do the job perfectly. It is one of those tools that is not a big investment and pays for itself in one use.

This tool worked fine to taking of the snap clips off. The downside of this tool it came with rust already on the tool. The other problem is that they give you a little case for the adapters but it should be a case for the whole tool to keep it together. If i need a tool for everyday use this would be the one, but for an occasional use this tool would be fine, unless i cant find the adapters.

These are spot on for the price. I have used them a few times and they get the job done correctly. Recommended for light use.

KD Tools 445 Internal Snap Ring Pliers

I've had these KD 445 internal snap ring pliers for years and really like them. They work great and have saved some serious time in removing internal snap rings often use in recessed areas inside appliances and power tools. The pliers came with five sets of different sized interchangeable tips that have held up well with use. The tips are also available separately from K-D for replacement if you happen to break one. I like that the interchangeable design of these pliers gives you a little more flexibility in adjusting the tips when needed, which you don't get with single size fixed tip snap ring pliers, but the tips are slightly angled and a little short, so may not be long enough to fit down into some deeper recessed areas.

Save Your Money and Buy Good Snap Ring Pliers

Pro: Designed to work with several different styles of snap ring Con: Only useable on the lightest of hardware, thoroughly disposable tool - possibly the worst I ever purchased Sound advice: Save your money and purchase good quality tools designed specifically for the job you'll be doing. I was surprised to see these still available. I bought a set of these at a premium price >25 years ago when first outfitting my toolbox. Only difference is that these have a rubber grip, rather than the bare metal ones that were great for pinching fingers & hands when the tool failed (which it WILL). Design is OK for light use when using the straight tips; however, the angled ones - the most useful and those that require the most tool strength - merely twist in the jaw mount, launching snap rings and the great-idea "interchangeable tips" into a low earth orbit. Recommend you wear safety glasses because things tend to go airborne when this happens, btw. One could argue that you only need tighten the screw. This may work once or twice but will inevitably strip the screw and/or soft threads in the jaws. Only thing you are guaranteed by purchasing this tool is that you will 1) learn the meaning of "buyer beware" and 2) have a bunch of small parts that rattle around in your tool box until you throw them out.
