Nice heavy iron.
This is 8 full inches long, so it is too long for an 8 inch skillet. It fits into my 12 inch cast iron skillet well. It is heavy enough to work well. The handle is screwed on, and is wooden, so I hope it does not get loose. So far I am pleased.

It's Cast Iron
I have a small kitchen, and thus I use this primarily to toast bread in a frying pan (...). By and large, it works great, but it has a tendency to accumulate condensation, depending on what you're cooking, and as it is cast iron, it needs to be seasoned or it will start to rust. With the grid pattern, it can be a pain to clean, and yet, cleaning seasoned cast iron is problematical. Caveat emptor. Not a defect, just be aware of what you are getting ;).

Durable
I have 3 of these steak weights and they have worked well. It's not to heavy that it smashes the juice out the meat. It's not to lite to keep the meat from curling up. Has a wide surface are and the handle does not get to hot to pick it up and move it around. They have not rusted. I hand wash them and dry them off immediately. Very good product.

Nice heavy press for burgers and bacon
I got this for making smash burgers and for keeping bacon from curling and the weight is great. You’ll need a 12 inch skillet or a griddle to use this press without hitting the sides. Of course you have to season and take care of it like my other cast iron cookware to prevent it from rusting. The only thing I’d change about it is to make the corners more round instead of sharp angles.

Had to return - - -
Will NOT fit into my 12" cast iron pan which is the one I use all the time. The mesurements said it was 8.25 long so I thought it would fit easy, not so because my pan is round and the press hits the curve. But it does look like a great press and I am so sad that it didn't work for me.
