Setting up a wee bit of security at campsite to see any animal rustling about and two footers intruding after dark too.
This is going to be my wee bit of security system for camping this summer. I found a work/spot like light not a big hefty number but one that has enough light to see about the campsite if some furry or human is rummaging about. The light turns on and off with a switch and even has a remote itself but this I can keep inside the tent with me. Folks the past two years at my favorite campgrounds have been driving in after dark arriving late looking for a campsite. Those folks do not bother me. I usually can peak out the tent window and take stock of what's what and determine sure enough and by then they are usually backing their vehicles out. But last year took the cake...already at least 3 times folks had driven down...and each time I could see out and relax. But winds took out my first tent and I switched to one that had a rain fly that covered all the windows and one night soon after....someone drove in 5 times over a 24 minute time period starting at 3 in the morning. First two times they drove in and pointed their high beams on my tent? Did not back out too fast. ???? Third time in someone got out of the vehicle and walked up to my tent and was walking about it...with a high beam flashlight. ??????? This was followed by another drive in....and finally a second repeat of walking up to my tent with a high beam flashlight. I couldn't see anything and I didn't dare step out of the tent to be blinded by their light. I was totally vulnerable. Also not knowing who or what...I didn't want to give away that I was a female 65 year old camping alone. Wouldn't take someone long to evaluate the situation and know they were in control. So I suspect this was the sheriff. For two reasons...one it happened a year before where the sheriff arrived searching the whole campground on other side of river every morning for a week. They caught who they were looking for over a hundred miles no where near the campground...but they came in day light early morning but light out just the same. I also had a camp guest with me that year who was however 78 years old and tiny little thing. Anyway this past year the next morning after the disturbance here is a sheriff's car speeding past the campsite on the main road above one way then back the other and finally taking off in as much a hurry on another loop up to the lake. But of course I have no idea if it was the law because they didn't announce. However some folks who drive in park with their high beams smack on your tent so how rude. I figure it might help to have a light set up on the table..which is metal and I can tie the light down to it...so I can look out the tent window...if they are not backing out as fast as most do...and or set their high beams on my tent...I can turn the light on to let them know...and see there is not another campsite and to retreat. Also not sure what the sheriff would do if that ever happens again...if it was them...but it should deliver the same message...go away and come back at a more reasonable hour...really. (I told my husband when I got home..what would happen if I sprayed the sheriff with bear spray under those condtions and they didn't announce themselves? As much as I'd feel it was justified...no doubt they would claim...did too call out..she said he said...but I did have my little tape recorder on...which I keep to catch bird sounds at night. Owls being my favorite. It would have held up my end of the story I'd hope. But oh yeah...by the fifth visit I was on edge enough to have the can of pepper spray in one hand and the tape player on. Silly old lady some might say. Humor me I'd probably say. I did put an end to all driving in after dark by parking the car up to the top of the entrance drive every evening. And never again for a tent without windows to see out. I also invited a couple who kept asking me how long I intended to stay to share the campsite. It's big with plenty of room for more...they had a small camper and can't say it was ideal. I felt invaded and taken advantaged almost right away. But no doubt a bit of a knee jerk move on my part.) This year..armed with this tiny little remote system I am going to be prepared for night intruders.....pepper spray is my last resort but don't mess with this lady! I take my camping seriously. Outdoors is to relax and enjoy and not for encounters that go bump in the night so to speak. Boy Scouts say....be prepared. Wonder what girl scouts say...get a box of cookies:)))

So many uses! Fantastic product
I had previously purchased an indoor remote to control a lamp from across the room when I was in bed. This one works the same way, could easily be used indoors, but stands up to outdoor weather. You plug the pronged plug into an outlet and then anything you plug into the device can be controlled with a remote (with a very long reach). Has an on and off button. Bulb on remote lights up briefly when buttons are pushed. OUTDOOR DECOR: This outdoor one has come in very handy for cafe lights I have outside. Our outdoor socket is very high off the ground, essentially right up against the roof on the outside wall of our house. It takes a ladder to reach it. I plugged this into the high socket and plugged my strand lights into the device. Now, whenever I want the cafe light ambiance, I click the "on" button on the remote. PETS & PESTS: We have a very large back yard and only one back porch light, so once I had the strand lights in place, I was able to light up the back yard whenever I let my dogs out at night. Because they are small and we have a lot of wild animals around (including skunks), it is nice to be able to light up my yard with the touch of a button (and without the permanent installation of lighting). This device even works from inside the house! I can be sitting on my couch inside the living room and turn on and off the outdoor lighting. For people with gardens and deer who like to pay their gardens a visit; plug a small radio into this device outside. When you're inside at night you can click the button and have the radio turn on to shoo the deer out of the yard. HOME SAFETY: This is great for safety. If someone were to be in my yard, I could light it up without coming to the wall to flip a switch. HOLIDAY DECOR: It's also great for holiday decorations. When you don't want to be stuck with the settings of a timer and you don't want to go out in the cold to plug in lighting, you can use this little remote to turn on and off holiday decor/lighting from inside the house. HALLOWEEN/PRANKS: Because this can be plugged in anywhere, it can be used to set scary moods and pull off pranks. Lights, tvs, halloween figures, can be turned on and off from a distance (hiding place). SURPRISE PARTIES: Set up festive lights, music, etc. on one remote. As you walk your "surprise party victim" up to the house, you can click on the lights yourself using the remote in a pocket or purse, simultaneously indicating to everyone to say "surprise". SPACE HEATERS/FANS: Instead of getting up out of bed or from a desk to turn on and off a fan or space heater, use the remote. Stay in the warmth of the bed and be able to turn off heat before the room gets too warm. LIGHTS WITH SWITCHES ON THE CORD: I have wall lights/sconces with switches on the cords. The cords run down the wall behind several living room chairs. Instead of having to lean over the chairs, I can use the remote to turn the lights on and off. You can also use this idea to turn on and off an electric strip (although I wouldn't plug in devices that require too much power). This way you can turn on multiple lamps at once to achieve softer lighting than flipping on a main switch to overhead lighting. Anything you can plug in, can be controlled via remote. This device worked so perfectly for my needs and is so easy and reliable that I will undoubtedly buy several more.

Arrived on time and in perfect shape.
We plugged it in and it worked like a charm. We live in Canada so very cold and the unit didn't miss a beat.

Works great!
I must admit that when I saw the 100' range claim I was a little skeptical. But it really does work from 100' away and it does not require line-of-sight to operate. Great product. Installation was simply plug it in and start using it. My driveway is not lit and backing in at night can be a little "tricky". I was thinking about using a timer or motion sensor to turn the lights on when approaching the driveway. This works much better. I can turn the driveway marker lights on (when I need them) from the roadway before I start backing in.

Works great at advertised distance
Had some doubts about the remote working at "100 feet". The unit is 90 feet away, outside, at -35 below and works with one simple click. Very pleased.

Transmitter range is good, and construction seems high quality
I bought this for controlling my car's 400W block heater from inside my house, and it works very well. Transmitter range is good, and construction seems high quality. Edit: It stopped working after about 4 months. For a couple of months before it stopped working the remote didn't seem to consistently work, even though the remote battery was still good. I took it apart and found that one of the capacitors on the circuit board was loose and making intermittent contact with the solder. It probably broke free because the 16ga wires in the case were routed over it and applying pressure on it. I applied some new solder and now it works like new.

Great quality, simple and it works well.
Nice simple remote to turn the Edison lights on our stone house on and off. It works at 50 ft even through a stone wall and wood pile. Looks like a quality unit that will last.
