Better than standard issue
The pinky is very long in fit and they are made more for cooler to cold weather work but for the price- the better choice for medium to light carpentry work with good cut resistance. Definitely recommend.

Should be more durable for the price.
Fit/comfort - The gloves fit very well and are very comfortable aside from the inside of the finger tips were the stitching can rub under your finger nails; it's a bit annoying and I find myself often shifting the fingertips back a bit, but that may not be a problem for people with tougher skin than me. These aren't the most breathy gloves I've worn, but that's probably the price you pay for more durability. Just keep in mind that your hands will get a little sweaty over time; not enough to bother you in the short term, but I find that after ~2 weeks I need to take the gloves home to wash them or suffer smelly hands just from putting them on. Durability - I've had the gloves for a close to a month and a half now and I use them quite a bit since I'm employed at a local manufacturer/woodshop working 40 hours a week plus semi-frequent overtime. Within the time I've had them the gloves have held up fine except for the crotch between the thumb and index finger on the left hand specifically (I'm frequently shifting boards of wood for hours at a time with that hand); the padding there has started crumbling away a bit after the first wash (they went in the washer, but were hang dried as per the instructions). Some of the stichting around the exposed fingers have also come undone/torn; the gloves are still holding together just fine, it's just a little concerning. Overall - For the price I wish the gloves were a little more durable in the high friction areas considering I'll be washing these every other week, but they're not terribly expensive either for how comfortable/protective they are (I've only gotten splinters on the exposed parts of my fingers so far). Depending on how long they last I could maybe see myself buying another pair, but the long term durability is yet to be determined.

An Honest Review
First off, I'd like to state that I'm a driver for Sherwin-Williams and am constantly loading and unloading 50-100 pound containers of paint. I originally set out to find a pair of gloves that would be protective and dextrous because it is a huge pain trying to fill out BOL's and other paperwork on the job with thick gloves. I figured carpenter gloves were a nice compromise for driving, warehousing and paperwork. And they are, just not this particular brand. The first thing I noticed upon receiving them is the weird size. I ordered a large at first and it fit well enough around my palm but the ring finger was way too short. The seem on the inside dug right up under my nail which was extremely uncomfortable. I ended up sending them back for an XL, but it wasn't much better. The fingers were long enough but the thumb hole was abnormally large. I could fit both of my thumbs in the one hole. Thankfully, my lovely girlfriend was able to sew them to a more comfortable fit. The material these gloves are made out of are rather abrasive and in my opinion, uncomfortable to wear. Also, all the padding you see in the photos is like a tacky rubberized material that is just sewn on. What you end up with is a flexible glove with very unproductive and annoying pads all over the place. I really disliked the way they were put together because these pads stab up under your joints when you bend your fingers. These pads are also not sewn to the edges, so there is a ledge that sticks up around the circumference of each one. I feel this was completely unnecessary, the glove felt like it was slapped together. Also, I'd like to mention that there are inconsistencies between the two gloves. For example, the pads are in slightly different places and the right pinky is longer than the left. I also feel the need to warn people about one of the top reviewers who compared these gloves to the Mechanix brand framer gloves. His information is skewed. He praised the quality of Youngstown gloves and sort of put down Mechanix. However, I tried on the Mechanic gloves and really loved them. Everything was put together well, they were solid. Those gloves had no inconsistencies between each other and they were much more comfortable to wear overall. Maybe this guy is affiliated with the Youngstown company or is just a diehard fanboy; but as a person who had his first experience with both companies's gloves, I can honestly say the Mechanix came out on top in a landslide. In conclusion, these gloves did their purpose. I was able to fulfill all my job duties without hassle. However, I feel like these are poorly made, odd sized and rather uncomfortable. I ended up buying the Mechanix Framer gloves and was much, much happier with that product.

Great gloves
I wear these 6 days a week, I love them, they hold up well for as much as they are worn. I am on my 2nd pair in 6 months, the fingers that are cover wear out first, but other then that the original pair I have from 6 months ago is still in great shape.

Youngstown Carpenter Gloves
I wanted to do a review after using these gloves for over a month. I drive a forklift, lift, load, pull, and carry heavy objects, tools, furniture, and boxes all day at work. These gloves have held up real well. Pros: No slip because velcro strap secures nicely onto the wrist. It has a decent grip for the most part. Pulling wires and lifting gates I only had a moderate problem with. Sweat pad is a nice feature. The intentional finger cut offs allowed for easy product pricing and typing. Ventilation is decent. My hands didn't get as sweaty like the other gloves have made them. I get complimented a lot because these gloves are visually attractive. Cons: Snug fit but only for the first week. The gray stitching start to loosen around the edges when used overtime. After a week they start smelling like used socks but machine washing cures that. Overall: These are the best gloves I've ever used at work. They have different varieties. The one I'm getting next is the winter version. But, even these gloves have kept my hands warm. Worth the purchase!

No size smaller than medium available?
Our daughter, whose last name is actually Carpenter, is a graduate of RISDI and a sculptor, craftswoman, and artist in paper and wood whose work is in two museums, has had a piece selected for a world tour exhibition and who had an installation in terminal B of the Philadelphia airport. She needs gloves like these - but even though the size chart lists measurements for small, there appears to be none listed for purchase. Medium is too loose and too long. Is there any plan to acknowledge that women and smaller handed males might also need gloves like these for working with wood and sharp tools?
