Store food from prep to freezer to oven to plate. Interesting and useful technology!

Endurables by Ziploc come in various appropriate sizes, and includes two packets that stand on their own. The silicone packets look to be well-made and seem durable. I only recently recieved these, so I am still getting used to the technology and finding uses for the several that I have in my kitchen. The fact that they can be used from preparation to freezer to oven, and then to the table is a terrific idea whose time has come. They are well made and include side tabs to assist in opening the packet and pressing out air. Today I used the two packets that stand on their own to store Ministrone soup I made on this cloudy, chilly day. Frankly, one of the primary reason I made the soup was to have the opportunity to test the packets so I could provide my honest review of this new (to me) use for silicone containers. I used both sizes of the stand up container packets, and ladled soup into each. The container openings nescessary to seal the packets do not provide a wide opening, so I had some issues with spillage while trying to fill the containers. I did my best to fill the containers only to the mark that indicated "full", but when I attempted to close the container packet, I again had issues with the contents spilling out onto the counter. I was finally successful in closing each of the containers tightly, and I hope they stay that way when I pop them into the freezer. Perhaps it's a learning curve for me, since I am more familiar with the more rigid Ziploc containers I use every day for food storage. Again, these well-constructed containers use interesting technology and can be terrific time/energy savers in a myriad of ways, so I will be using them in my kitchen since I cook and/or bake food daily. They are not inexpensive, so I will do my best to make use to the potential innovation they offer to cooks like me . I recommend them with a few reservations, thus the 4 stars.

Wonderful, with a caveat

I love silicone storage. They are easy to clean, easy to store, and most that I've tried are leakproof. One of the things I've been looking for is a thinner silicone that molds to the food better for cooking sous-vide. These are nice and thin and my initial impression was that these would be perfect! Until I tried to put something into them. Like many silicone bags, these do not open to the full width of the container. In many cases, it really doesn't matter. Sometimes it does. For example, the one that looks perfect for a sandwich doesn't open large enough for a single slice of bread, let alone a whole sandwich. Of course, if you cut the sandwich in half, each half can be put in separately and the problem is solved. However, if you want to put something in that's inflexible or freeze something that needs to be removed while frozen, the opening on all these bags is a couple inches less than the width of the bag or container, which can be really frustrating. There are many things, though, that I store or freeze where the smaller opening doesn't make a difference. Leftover vegetables, spaghetti sauce, chicken breasts, etc., all can fit into these bags. I love that the soft-side nature of silicone bags allows for optimizing refrigerator and freezer storage instead of having wasted air space inside of rigid containers (particularly regarding holiday leftovers). The ability to store food in the fridge, freezer, or pantry, then warm it or cook it in the microwave, oven, or sous-vide is really versatile. Theses bags and containers are very flexible, allow for squeezing out air, close securely, and then open easily make them a favorite. I wish I could give half-stars, because I'd give them 4.5 stars, with that half-star being that the don't fully open the width of the container. (Especially that sandwich-size one.)

Great reusable bags!

I have been wanting to try these bags, but hadn’t been willing to pay so much for them to try them out in the event I didn’t like them. So, when this came up to test and review I jumped at the opportunity. I do really love these bags. The silicone is thick and feels really durable. They open and close really easily. I was actually doubtful that they would be leakproof with how easily they close, but sure enough they are. A few of the bags are made so they sit flat, and you can fill them more easily, but a couple of the other bags in the package do not have that. I would have preferred all of them to have that flat bottom. Like others mentioned, I do think the openings could be a little bigger. Aside from those two things I still really love using these. They have worked in the freezer, fridge, and even microwave without issue. They are really easy to clean, and they didn’t even stain when I stored a red sauce in one. I would definitely get more of these, but I will say that I feel like the price is a bit much. I have to reconcile the fact that these, if taken care of properly, will last me a while. That being said, maybe the price isn’t as bad as I really think. I’m still a little on the fence about the cost, but I’m definitely loving these.

Perfect leftover food solution, but wish silicone bags were bigger

The ZipLoc Endurables are made of very high quality silicone and allow you to store leftover food, meat, sandwiches, etc. in the fridge or even the freezer. I have other silicone food storage pouches as well, but what I like about these ones is that they can be zipped like the regular ziploc bags and don’t require a separate plastic piece to lock them. This package comes as a variety pack with different size bags. However, most of them are pretty small and can barely fit a sandwich. There is just one larger bag that can fit a few chicken breasts. I wish they would have included more larger bags instead of all the small ones. At a price of $45 at the time of this review, I would have expected more larger bags at least. The price seems pretty steep as is.

Sturdy reusable silicone bags.

These worked well for the oven and microwave. Would not be my first choice for the freezer. I would like a way to label as to the date when using for the freezer . A sandwich only fit in the larger of the standup bags but then there was too much room at both sides to use in the freezer. Easy enough to clean but awkward to dry. Seems to be well-made and flexible.
