Powerful, yet compact.

I purchased this and an AmpFlow S-400-24 400W power supply to drive a custom-built tool spindle for a desktop CNC mill, and with a 1/8" endmill the spindle assembly slices through plastic like it's not even there. This motor is serious for its size, much MUCH more powerful than the motors commonly used on desktop machining equipment (e.g., lathes/mills). It comes well-packed, with plenty of protection. My only concern is the mounting, which is only four 10-32 holes. Seems a bit on the skimpy side for a motor capable of delivering up to about a horsepower. Also, watch the mounting screw depth - you only have about a quarter-inch before you risk touching the top of the armature. These are minor nitpicks, though, and not adequate to justify reducing the score.

Great package, working quite well in my Unimat Lathe rehabilitation. Recently asked if this can be used with a rheostat ... short answer, I don’t know, but I wouldn’t recommend, and that’s not how I used it for my Unimat Lathe. As with any motor, a Pulse-Width-Modulation speed controller gives full-torque performance at slow speeds. Used with the AmpFlow S-400-24 400W, 17A, 24V DC Power Supply and RioRand 12V-40V 10A PWM DC Motor Speed Controller. Gives great torque through all speed ranges, continuous variable control from stall to maximum speed.

Be careful with this one.

Very beefy motor. Know what your doing with your circuit. Add a reset-able fuse that matches your anticipated current draw + safety factor. Do your due diligence with your mechanical design/specs. Highly recommend a gearbox. Don't stall this guy. Use proper gauged wires for carrying whatever current you spec.

Great powerful little motor, HUGE TORQUE!

The media could not be loaded. This is the fourth AmpFlow E30-150 3" motor I have purchased, like the other ones the performance is outstanding. I use the to drive home made Bonetti style static electric generators, and the performance and reliability of theses units are phenomenal!

but can't find a motor mounting bracket, anywhere!! Gonna have to make one I suppose.

Nice little motor

I’m using it for a debarker for my portable mill It’s sold as a 1hp but on 24volt not on 12 volts I believe witch suprise me And the rpm are the same

not reliable

seriously i bought that item and not impressed... using it on 24v with a voltage regulator and everything and not even 5 minutes and the motor get freaking hot and smoking and this is with no load like seriously will not buy another one and won't recommend it!

Very good motor, it is used to spin a heavy flywheel, and so far it does a good job.
