It's works but it's a pretty rough cast aluminum. no sharp edges though

Pricey, but quality

This is a quality cast aluminum seat base with friction control knob. Much better than the $9.99 metal swivels at Walmart. More expensive, but much better quality.

Quality product.

Good quality casting & hardware. Typical annoying surface aluminum oxide formation in marine environment which clear acrylic (or?) surface treatment could prevent. Or don't look under the seat....
