I lack measurement skills - these are SMALL but it's all good!

As much as I want to give this product less stars I can't consciously do so because I messed up. I've never been good with measurements, it's been an ongoing issue my whole life, and I honestly thought these would be bigger by a few inches; especially since they're for art & crafts. However I can glue these to make shift whatever size fits my needs and that'll be that. I'm new to sculpting, just recently buying all my Sculptey supplies, and after working with my colored Polymer Clay Christmas present, and having surprising success, I wanted to start trying 'figurines' with these as their base. So I can cover and blend away the base into looking and behaving like one solid piece. However to anyone else who's measuring skills are lacking, these are roughly 1.5 inches x 1 inch - they're tiny. But glass half full and I'm happy :)

These were perfect for what I got them for: make small photo magnets with resin/domed tops. Fun project with some family photos, mod podge, and bulk magnets.

Light, flimsy, coarse, and crappy

These are a bit crappy, to be honest. They're just one step up from a piece of thick cardboard. The "wood" is as light and flimsy as balsa wood, but it splinters and sheds shards of wood fibers all around the edges. These are apparently "stamped" out of a sheet, not cut, and the stamping changes the shape/appearance. You definitely need to sand these all around the edges, as it is very rough, but unfortunately they continue to splinter even after being sanded smooth. The "grain" of the "wood" (I'm using that term loosely) unfortunately raises when you paint these, so the wood becomes coarse/rough/splintery all over again. I also tried drilling small holes in a few, and they splintered and cracked. The color of the material is a very light cream, and bears no wood grain.

Not what I expected

I got these because I thought it would be a great medium to carve, or woodburn, some nice, caring messages on them, and send them with gifts or cards or something. They are sturdy and lightweight, and an absolute value for money, but sideways, if you see one of the pictures, I think it makes them far less appealing. But they're super cheap, so I guess that makes sense. I would buy them again!

Also used these to create a Montessori Color Box 3 (left out the pink, if you want all nine, you need to buy 2 sets, fyi). Some, not all have a little divot where they were cut, not a problem for my application.

Test Tile Samples

It has been recommended, before I jump in, that I create a pattern for each of the nibs on a single piece of wood. I decided to use these items to make individual patterns of the nibs and record the nibs type and temperature used on the back. I can move the wood chips around each other and determine which patterns are the best fit for the current project. They are really good for this and other types of projects. We made test tiles in the ceramic pottery class for our glazing pieces before the application of glaze.

Worked well for purpose: decoupage, wood burning, and shims.

My order arrived safely and intact. A few were used as shims for installing cabinet doors, the remainder split between making a color/image domino set (for small child) and wood-burned A-B-C / Numbers primer. Yes, best if sanded, and not made to hand down through the ages. But for the price, we are all having a crafty good time. Best is this small size fits into a unfinished, light wood Tea box, also bought on Amazon.

Good economical product for crafting!

Great for the price. Used these to make little Christmas tags. If you drill a hole into it though the wood splinters a lot it isn't super sturdy. So, not the best quality out there but does the job for small crafts.
