Nice bait box

Larger than I need for my purposes but very nice.
First off, this bait box is big. Much larger than I need for my purposes. I got it for holding bait (I use a lot of homemade dough baits, worms and corn when I fish for freshwater panfish. Infused chicken and cut fish when I fish for Catfish in brackish water. And shrimp, crab, clam and squid when I fish saltwater) so I don't have to constantly go to the icechest or bend down or walk to the gear/tackle when fishing. Also in my quest to streamline my fishing gear so I can carry less and less stuff to fish with, I like this option for bait and lures to compliment my small belt clipped pouch that holds forceps, lures and baits, extra hooks, floats, swivels, split-shot, rag, etc. Aside from being larger than anticipated or needed (may very well have been in the description and I didn't read it) my only complaint os that, as another reviewer stated, the belt clips leave much to be desired. I had no problem with the box staying secured to my belt and it never fell off even after banging it up against multiple obstructions and obstacles (2nd time using it I had to climb down and up rocks to get to my secret fishing spot) but actually clipping in on my belt was a task. The belt clips could be a better design but the way it security closes with positive retention clicks and the top storage compartments on the main lid (I still have not filled these compartments) makes up for the extra care required when securing the box to your belt. I have not experimented with other ways and places to mount it to my person or gear but I plan to. I plan to configure a way to wear it chest high utilizing the sternum strap on a hydration pack that I am dedicating to what I call trail fishing (fishing with just a single rod and either a backpack of gear or in my case hip mounted pouches or packs. I would have been happy with this item at half its size but I think come time to fish saltwater I will appreciate having the extra capacity for bait. So far I like it.

Solid with shortcomings
Two full seasons in and I do like this bait box, it's as robust as it gets for plastic. The lid storage is convenient if you're running a couple different setups. It has two major shortcomings: 1. As countless people have mentioned, it will get knocked of your belt without modification. I like to explore when I fish, and I've had to go back for this thing several times after not realizing it got hung up in some brush. 2. Worms can and will get out. I don't have much problem with the farmed nightcrawlers you can buy, but wild worms I gather in the woods get out consistently by pushing through the hinges. Still, it has a ton of capacity; more than you need for a full day on the water. It hasn't broken, and seems like it'll be around for years or even decades.

Love it thru and thru. 6 bucks so ita no Cadillac, but worth every penny! Great for kayak and wading. Room in top for hooks, split shots, small siners and a cpl jigs. Dump a cup of worms in bottom and good to go. The belt clip seems a bit soft (as i read was common) so it will get a rivet thru both tabs and it be fine. Bought this for the GF and just ordered me 1.

Modification made perfect...
So, this product does seem great however I would recommend a slight modification too. I would put this on my wader belt. I fish the surf in NC and it's rough. I was worried about it skipping off as well. So, I went and bought a little snap fastener kit and it is now perfect. I can slide on my belt then snap it closed so it is not going anywhere. You can get these little kits at lowes or Walmart for $5-$7. It now will never come off and I can still slid it off and on my belt when needed. This is how it should be built in the first place in my opinion.

No more drowned worms!
After a whole dozen crawlers got drowned and gooified during a long wade, i needed something water resistant for bait. This is discreet and way more water resistant than a cardboard tub. Nice little tackle tray up top. I've loaded it with crawlers, whole shrimp, cut bluegill and other slimy fish treats and my tackle bag no longer has to smell like wet worms. I will say that the "belt clip" design isn't super substantial and is basically designed for anyone without any anatomy that may hang over your waist. Long short, if you're of any substantial stature or have a gut or spare tire, it isn't clipping on your belt. I'm a big dude, 6'7.5" 375lb, and it doesn't fit on my belt. I didn't plan on it doing so as I keep it in my cross body tackle bag, but if you want fill fanny pack action, you'd best be skinny. Dishwasher safe is nice. Handy and cheap, would buy again.

Does what it is supposed to do
This is really useful. I use it for sand crabs and plastic grubs. As some posters mentioned, it does fall off really easily so you really should modify it like another poster showed. I did something similar. The only bad part is I can't take it off my web belt unless I cut some tie-wraps. When you are uing it, make sure your hear and/or feel that the compartments are closed--they are a little tight. If you don't, everything will spill out when you bend over. Lost a few crabs before I figured that out.

Works well.
Great bait holder and I love the top storage for hooks and weights. I cut some belt loops into the clips on the back though. This enabled me to attach my own nylon belt and never worry about it accidentally popping off.
