Not made in China and its a GE filter so i feel a little better than the culligen made in china filters

They are ok
If you have no clue what you are doing or looking at? Then don't do it and hire a pro plumber! These filters are mainly just to pull out the non dissolvable solids out of your water and keep your pipes in descent condition. If you really want to know how good they are then consult a professional water treat company for information.

Best remedy for the problem
We live in a town that grew too quickly into a city. The city was not prepared for an influx of 6,000 new homes in less that 2 yrs. Our cities infrastructure can not support, that included the freshwater supply. Our water is filtered very little, basically straight out of the well into the cities water system. We use this filter to pre-filter the water before being treated with our whole house RainSoft system. Works great eliminating the reoccurring problems we had with the RainSoft.

No Complaints At All
As an experiment I've been using this model for the past 8 months instead of the GE FXHTC. I'ev been using the FXHTC for probably around 10 years. The FXHTC runs about $35 at Home Depot or Lowes and $31 on Amazon. The only major difference is this model does not filter out chlorine, but being on well water that's not an issue for us. I'm more interested in removing rust, mud, and similar elements. I am religious about replacing ours every two months & just installed the 4th one. This filter does the job very well, and for $15 I'm thrilled. It holds up fine between changes, it does not collapse or clog. I can't see any performance difference in water taste or clarity, or a decrease in water pressure change from the other GE FXHTC. Again, I replace ours every two months & the filter is still fairly clean. Its just my wife & I at home these days so its not filtering as much water as when the kids were all home. I highly recommend giving it a try. I think you'll be more then happy with the results and save a good chunk of change if using a more costly model.

Wrong picture, correct title. Good product.
This listing is for the pleated filter that only does sediment (FXHSC). The picture is of the sediment and chlorine filter (FXHTC). The seller recently changed the listing because I’ve received the correct one (FXHTC) every three months for a year until recently when I was sent the sediment only filter. The price has also gone up 15 dollars but stayed low at my hardware store. I’ll be buying from them from now on. As far as the FXHTC filler though, it’s worked very well and has taken all the unpleasant taste out of our southern US water. I’m really glad we bought the taste filter even though it’s more expensive. See my pictures for about one month of use vs the darker one which is about 3 months of use. Gave two stars because the product is great, the seller is just inconsistent.

Works well
I use these to filter iron bacteria out of my well water. Iron bacteria turns everything a slimy rusty brown. This filter works well for the full 3 months.

The water tastes great, but has a high iron content
We recently built a new house and have a well. The water tastes great, but has a high iron content. My wife is a cleaning fanatic and our toilets would be orange in about 3 days. Of course, this drove her insane. I checked online reviews and the GE whole house filter scored very high for a moderate price. Our toilets now stay very clean. The filter says to replace every 3 months or 30,000 gallons. It is just my wife and I and I have put in all low flow faucets, toilets, and front load washer. I just replaced the filter after 6 months, as we were beginning to see a slight pressure drop. Our water seems to create a slimy orange film if not filtered. Filter took care of this problem.

Good filter.
I have been using these cartridges in my whole-house filter for 6 years, changing them every 6 months. They perform very well. Home Depot no longer carries these, and was pleased to find them on Amazon. Thanks.
