Battery pack drama
Nice concept. Seems pretty durable. My cat at least kinda likes it. The battery pack almost requires lock-pic tools to get it open though. Someone suggested throwing away the screw once it is out far enough to open because it is not necessary. BUT! They have wrapped it in a plastic sleeve so it can't be fully removed. Now it just sticks out part way. Once stuffed inside the toy it should be safe enough. The sound quality is not very good, It's just a few seconds of an actual recording stuck on loop. That's fine, but when the loop restarts every 3-4 seconds it makes a weird clicking sound that does not sound like a healthy cat. I was able to muffle the volume by playing around with the placement of the heat pack and "heart" pack inside the kitty toy. Uses up batteries pretty quickly. The heat pack seems to work fine as long as you heat it SLOWLY! My kitty is learning to like it with just the heat pack. In general this requires a good deal of tweaking for the money. Try it if you are desperate (I was), but I wouldn't buy it on a whim. Oh, and the Velcro is very tough and noisy to open. Your cat may shred everything else, but that Velcro isn't going anywhere, LOL!

A MUST HAVE FOR NEONATE KITTENS ESP ORPHANS
I involuntarily became a neonate kitty mom less than a week ago to 24 hours old (or less) to 3 kittens a little less than a week ago. They were distraught & extremely anxious (understandably) due to the trauma of being abandoned by their momma. I would do what I could to console and comfort them, but let's face it I am not their mamma nor a cat! I needed something STAT! After researching how to care for neonate kittens I came across this website 'The KittenLady' and she said this was an absolute must-have to soothe and comfort neonate, young, anxious kitties. Esp. orphaned kittens. She was absolutely correct! Thank God the shipping was super fast! Once it arrived I couldn't put it in their nest fast enough. Once I put it in their kitten nest they immediately started to calm down and root around and curl up to the HuggieKitty and fell asleep. When I peeked in they were sleeping in relaxed positions and not easily awakened! Not only do they fall asleep faster after feedings, but they also started developing faster! They engaged their purr motors and they are strong and started feeding better. It's amazing what this little stuffed animal with sounds does for orphaned kittens. The KittenLady was correct it's a must-have for anyone caring for orphaned neonates and young kittens. If you are like me and find yourself unexpectedly taking care of kittens, the KittenLady website is a wealth of information to help you navigate kitten care.

great cuddle kitty for your cat
First: let this Cuddle Cat air out for a few days. I'm sure you are all well aware that all items from China have an odor....it's packing material and/or stuff to keep products from mildew/mold in transit to USA. Second: Yes...my heat pack was wet and too hot after the recommended 45 seconds. That, too, I will experiment with. Like heating it for about 7 seconds at a time and also letting it air out for a few days. Give Cuddle Cat and heat pack plenty of time to air out before introducing to cat, then rub CC against your body/clothes to add your scent (your cat will love that). I'm in no hurry to rush this cuddle cat on my cat. I will eliminate all odors as much as possible before introducing this cuddle cat to my kitty. I know she will love it once it is properly conditioned. I'll update my review with my results at another time ;-) The key here...is to be patient for a few days for odors to dissipate!...Patience my friend, patience. There is no rushing a cat...right!!?? You know that!! :)

We adopted a very young kitty and he just loves this. We haven’t used the heating pad much just because we have one in his little bin. But he loves the heart beat and purr and when resting is always snuggled up by it! Highly recommend!

As advertised
Had two cats, sisters, one died at about 15. Surviving cat had difficult time adjusting to being alone at night. Purchased this to try and calm her. Seems to be working.

My cat didn't like this
The velcro was so tight and very loud when opening, it scared my cat. The heated insert really could not be felt through the toy and the "soothing sound" couldn't be heard that much. It was "pretty difficult" to get it "set up". The pocket where the sound thing and heat thing were to be stuffed was small. I had to return this.

Addressing some of the concerns
I bought this for me, not for a cat. I'm not sure whether you should be rating this lower just because your cat doesn't like it? (1) There is nothing wrong with the stitching. It's as good as any other cheap product and I found it totally acceptable. (2) There's also nothing wrong with the way it was designed. They chose to depict a cat with its hind legs in a comfortable position, while the front of the body is in a different position. Anybody who's had cats will recognize this laying down position. (3) Battery pack screw is completely unnecessary and it was stupid to include it in the first place. You can remove by using a pair of pliers and pulling as you unscrew, then just throw the screw away because you'll never need it again. (4) So far I've gotten at least (5) 4-hour sessions out of fresh batteries. If you're concerned about battery life, buy some fresh rechargeables and use them over and over again. (5) The people who are complaining about pushing the button "doing nothing" haven't read the instructions for use. I cuddle with this cat almost every night to ease the pain of losing a loved one. It's very comfortable to sleep with. I only use the purring function but I was pleased to hear that they actually used a recording of a real cat purring.
