Gets the job done, but..........

if you are mounting this unit in a typical 1" hollow bar, home security door, you will have to mod it out. You'll need to saw the tube the ball is set in. That will eliminate the threads that hold the screw-in spring retainer disk. That means you'll need to put a strip of tape through the spring to keep that spring from falling into the security door, and being lost, forever. Once it's mounted, the inner frame will hold it in place. Speaking of mounting: Do NOT use the garbage screws that come with this unit, if you're mounting it on metal. The screws break off, as you screw them in. Get stainless steel, short screws, and use them. Easy, after the hassle with the supplied screws. Recommended, with reservations.

I don't know what you can say about this product other than the above headline. If you need a ball catch and your local hardware store doesn't have the finish you need, order it from Amazon.
