It was great while it lasted
It was great while it lasted, which was about 6 months. I installed this stand up pole for my salt water flats boat since I do a lot of trolling through mangroves where sitting down really isn't an option. For a short while, it was great. Here's the scoop: Pros: - You can quickly adjust the height of the seat. I'm 6ft tall, so the highest setting was perfect for me. But if I took my wife fishing and she wanted to get some relief, I could lower it for her to sit. - It fits very snug in the base. It has a tab on the plastic housing that goes into the base which prevents it from coming out easy. Once you get it in, you have to give it a good tug to get it out. Cons: - It does not hold up to salt water. After 6 months the seat has corroded so much that I can no longer adjust the height (it's completely stuck to the point where WD-40 or any kind of lubricant cannot revive it.) It has also welded itself to the base to where I can no longer remove the pole. Since I use it pretty regularly and it's locked on the highest setting, it's not that big of an issue until I want to throw a net to get bait. I've had to teach myself to throw in a very limited space because I can't easily remove this pole. If you're going to put this in a freshwater boat and/or stow it when you get home, then I would recommend it. But if you're like me, and you're going to leave it installed 24/7 and use in it a saltwater application, then either look around a bit for a stainless steel pole or prepare yourself to have it stick on you after about 6 months.

As advertised, very pleased initially...time on salt water will tell.
Initial impression is very positive. It slips into the Marine Raider pedestal base with no issues. I like the clips at the bottom of the kingpin. Just enough grab to keep post in and allow you to expand height one handed but not so much you can’t get it out. Kingpin seems to be coated against corrosion. I understand the concern with the plastic parts that controls height but will reserve judgement for now. Top accepts the Atwood seat base without issue. Spins freely. Height is adjustable. Adjusts fine for me, from seated to leaning position with my Millinium Marine seat (non-folding style). The testing will begin when I hit the coast of Louisiana, inshore fishing! Will update.

not super impressed but still a 4 star I
It is quite a bit wobbly even though it fits well. All the movement makes it a bit hard 2 use foot controlled trolling motor. I am 5'10 & lowest position a bit 2 high 4 me..... I took seat post out of base post & cut off 4" then drilled hole 2 latch so wouldn't fly out @ high speeds... I think the wobble is just the nature of a tolled pole.... works as well as anything else I found.... just didn't realize how tall it is collapsed. ... not super impressed but still a 4 star I guess

I purchased this to replace the seat post on my 2009 Bass Tracker 190 TX. It fit perfectly in the original hole with no modification. It is silver with black plastic parts and looks very nice. The adjustable height is really why I purchased this item and it works very well. It fits the seat that came with the boat and the smaller bass seat that I purchased. It holds up very well. I am 6'1 and 190lbs and I have no problems at all with this seat. It is easy to install and operate, works well, and looks nice. This is a great product at a great price point.

Seems cheaply built for $50 price range.
Just opened it have not used it on the boat yet but I thought for around $50 it would be sturdier. The entire latch system is plastic with a steel pin and spring. The top bushing looks to be entirely plastic also.In my experience if you rely on plastic for the main structure the sun and age will get to it on a boat.
