forget the rest, this one is the best

bought many other "highly rated" but cheaper ones. one right out of the box said my freezer with ice in it was 85 degrees. cheap china junk. got tired of the crap and knew this was a great brand, cost was higher but worth it. i now have on i can trust and rely on.

Point, pull the trigger, get the temp

This is my first thermometer of its type, so I don't have any experience with competing products. That said, with this unit, you pop in the 9V battery, set the emissivity adjustment (on-screen, but as with most handheld thermometers, you have to program it for the type of material you're scanning as not all materials emit the same amount of detectable heat at the same temperature). Once programmed (look up the number, use the up/down buttons to set it, done, takes 10 seconds), it has been perfectly accurate. I've used it for several months now (approximately 2 minutes of total "on" time per day) and the battery still has a full charge, so even the battery power seems to last forever in this scanner. Great unit, zero complaints.

Easy to use

Easy to use, not sure how accurate or how you would test it. It seems accurate based on what’s room temperature.

for work and home nowadays.

i bought this for work but have found that i need it more at home as no one gains entry to my house without first having a laser dot on their forehead. i value klein as a dependable brand and have purchased and been very happy with their products in the past. ive seen much cheaper brands being used to have my temperature checked entering job sites and even government buildings. clearly this instrument is designed to do so much more than taking ones temp but its very comforting to know that no one gets into my house with a temp over 100 and that i can depend on this instrument to be accurate.

Awkward battery compartment

The battery compartment needs to be unscrewed to insert the battery. The screw is deep in the plastic frame and can be easily damaged when opened once or twice. Also the reading is not clear unless you hold the thermometer at very specific angles. I have not checked the item for accuracy and cannot comment on that but I would not buy this item again.

Another unopenable battery compartment, utterly useless

Klein decided to build yet another Fort Knox battery compartment (screw used to lock the lid), which is not a *terrible* idea, except if they (and they did all of!) 1) do not specify which kind/size screw is used, 2) embed it so deeply that one cannot see what kind/size screw it is, and 3) once you find a driver that fits and engages, the screw does not disengage the lid. GARBAGE engineering - whoever designed this mechanism should be ashamed, it isn't rocket science, battery compartments have been around almost as long as batteries, I'm going to guess 100 years. Klein is truly no longer Klein, but just another drop-shipper of Chinese-made garbage.

Vis retenant le couvercle problématique,

Très grande précision facile d'utilisation. Informations dans trois langues pertinente, Ma seule crainte serait la vis retenant le couvercle semble avoir été montée dans un genre de colle, ( loctite) très difficile à enlever, beaucoup trop petite, elle deviendra sous peu un problème.

Good IR Gun
