Direct replacement for Kohler Part 77885

I have a Kohler 15701-KS shower valve. The original replacement pressure balance/valve was Kohler P/N 77885 which is NLA. I ordered the Kohler P/N 1372972 and it's a equal replacement for P/N 77885. I wanted to share all the details on part numbers because it's hard to know what is a direct fit replacement. I now have a shower valve that mixes evenly from full cold to full hot - not the binary COLD/HOT that the prior valve was delivering.

Kohler 1372972 does replace Kohler 77885

At first glance it does not look like the mixer will fit as a replacement. However it has been modified and fits better then the old mixer. Everything else fits as well.
