A Running Christmas Tree!
I bought this vest to be seen while running in the dark, early morning hours here in the PacNW. When I first put it on and turned on the lights, my 5 year-old exclaimed with all the innocent admiration of a 5 year-old, "Mom! You look like a Christmas Tree!" This vest is so bright, it lights up the reflective street signs ahead of me. I figure if I get hit while wearing this vest, the driver meant to hit me, and my family can sue big time. I hope that it might also frighten away any of the larger wildlife that are resident in the area. On the down side, it is a little stiff, and for my small frame (size 6) a little large, even with everything in as snug as it can go. I had to sew the overlap at the sides in place so it would stay without flapping around. It took a couple of runs to get used to wearing it, but now it doesn't bother me. Anyway, it does the job very well--worth the money I spent, and I don't feel nervous about getting hit along the dark, rural roadways I run along.

Update 3/1/12. Amazon exchanged the original vest for the same. I returned the first within amazons return policy timeframe. The second vest has worked well for some time. My only complaint at this point is the on/off button. It can be difficult to use when the weather is cold. It's a great idea and I like the vest. I'm a bicyclist and ride early in the morning to work, often in the dark, once or twice a week. It lasted the ENTIRE month of August! I have used it 8 times and it simply failed. Probably a short in the wiring is my guess. I loosely folded it and put it in my bag carefully but the wiring should have held up to that. I can't imagine how long it would last in a construction environment, maybe a day. Sizing not too much of an issue since it would work well wearing cold weather gear in cooler weather. Plenty bright as others have said. I liked the flashing mode. I would not recommend this to a friend.

Great Vest
I run in the morning, in the dark, on the street (no sidewalk). This vest has reduced my nervousness about being hit by a car... Pros: -Cars visibly slow down and give me wide berth. They treat me differently than when I wear just a reflective vest. -I am significantly more visible than other runners I see in just reflective vests. Cons: -I wear glasses and the red LEDs are so bright that they reflect in the bottoms of the frames, reducing my downward visibilty and making things like going down stairs sort of scary in pitch darkness. -Although the vest is adjustable, it is huge, made for an XL guy to wear over his winter jacket, from what I can tell. The adjustible part does not get small enough for me (5'1", about size 6). I've had some luck taking it down further with a bunch of safety pins. It also bounces around a lot which I plan to fix at some point by tying a shoe lace around my waist. Final word: I really like it, but wish it were more adjustable.

Excellent for bicycling in the dark
My morning winter commute is in darkness. And my greatest concern is not the vehicle coming toward or at an intersection, I can see them & anticipate their actions. It is the car coming from behind, who may not be paying attention or in the suburbs of St. Paul, not expecting to see a bicycle in the winter. This vest can't be missed according to people I work with who pass me in the morning. There are 8 led lights in the rear, V shape design & 8 in the front. The vest is adjustable enough to go over my parka. The batteries are still strong after daily commutes of half an hour one way for most of this 2012/2013 winter. The battery compartment is easy to reach & turn off/on. I have a very bright MagicShine headlight with a planetbike light I set on strobe. Rear are 2 blinkies, one on the rack trunk & one on the left rear pannier. Those rear lights with the vest blinking I feel as safe as a bicycle can be sharing the roads with motor vehicles. I would take this vest on long unsupported bicycle tours in case of rain. It's not the easiest to get to a small package but worth the space to bring with... The vest is definitely recommended. UPDATE NOVEMBER 15, 2013 Of the 8 rear facing LED lights 2 work. I checked the vest yesterday so I don't know how long the lights were not working. Almost the same number on the front...so the vest lasted less than one winter season but realistically for maybe 3 or 4 months of actual use. Would have to say the vest is junk and now looking for a replacement which may be this vest again. When it worked it was fantastic for visibility. I'm visually impaired & ride a bicycle year round & this is Mpls/St. Paul Minnesota with 4 to 6 months of dark winters. It's the car coming from behind that concerns me more than any other direction & this vest on blink with the 2 red, rear blinkies gave me a sense of safety at least in my mind. Any blinking vest is required for night cycling I just need to find one not too expensive & that will last at least one season! And I know this vest fits over my parka......

Good for Night Runners.....
I bought this vest because I like to run and I tend to do so after dark. Not only is it effective in letting drivers know where you are, it alse serves are a decent lantern if it is completely dark and you need to see where you're going so you don't twist an ankle. The only issue I have with it is that it is a little bulky if you have a smaller frame. Also, while it is light weight, it's not weightless. It won't slow you down but it does take some getting used to if you are used to running unhindered. Having such effective reflective gear is worth any damper this would put on your workout. Also, you can use it while Trick-or-Treating with the kids if they'll be seen with you. Your coolness level will take a serious dip when you are running around with the dorky flashing reflector vest, but hey, are you try to get a workout or be a fashion plate? Get over it and get on the road!

Yes you look a numpty, yes the family laugh at you as you set off for your run/cycle, but the idiot in the car on their phone can see you from miles away and laughs at you whilst they go past you instead of knocking you over.....

Reflective vest
It took a long time to get this vest delivered and when received/opened as a Christmas gift, not all the lights worked. I am very disappointed as I believed everything would work properly.
