Make your own for less

A new wire core halyard for my flagpole is $110. For only a few dollars more I purchased the hardware and this tool to make two 50' halyards. My only complaint keeping it from a 5 star review is that one of the handles should have a flat spot to push against the ground or floor because with a tool this big, like a large bolt cutter, you're not going to chest press both handles together unless you're 6'4+ and built like the Rock.

Need extra strength

This is a great tool to crimp your steel cable clips. I and to place one end on the ground and use my weight as leverage to close it. But it works great once you get it closed. The tool is well made, heavy duty. Grips are comfortable. Really locks down well.

I weigh in at 135 pounds and had no trouble swaging 7/32" and 5/16" aluminum wire rope connectors. Built like a good set of bolt cutters.

Nice Crimper But ...

- Update - 1/11/2019 ------------------------------------ Seller actually refunded the entire purchase price! I never asked for that in any way which took me by surprise. What can I say, this company actually cares about customer satisfaction which is rare these days! For that I increased my rating to 5 stars! If they just increase the length of the handles on the crimper to about 40-48" it would be perfect in my opinion. I intend on doing just that very thing in the near myself so as to not injury myself! ------------------------------------ The crimper works just fine and seems to be a quality tool but the handles are way to short for the size sleeves that its suppose to handle! We were crimping on 1/4" zinc cooper sleeves for stainless steel cable and I'm not a weak person at all (I lift weights almost everyday) and I could barely close the handles on the zinc copper sleeves without giving myself a freaking hernia! So for the rest of the day to play it safe, my dad and I teamed up to crimp the sleeves together and that wasn't no easy task! If the handles were about 12" - 18" longer this crimper would be absolutely perfect (just my opinion). I can only imagine the amount of force it takes to crimp an 5/16" aluminum sleeve (now that's a scary thought)! I'll be doing a video review of this crimper on my YouTube channel (Weaver Cattle Company) eventually if you want to see just what I'm talking about!

Gets the Job done

I needed a swaging tool capable of crimping 5/16 aluminum loop sleeves over 5/16 flagpole halyard rope with stainless steel cable core. I opened the swaging tool to it's extent, but the aluminum loop sleeves would not fit in the 5/16 opening without me forcing them by tapping them in with a hammer. I'm not sure if that's the fault of the tool, or the particular sleeves I bought. Compressing the swaging tool to complete the 5/16" crimp took some effort, but wasn't impossible. Once I had the loop sleeve in place, I placed one handle on the ground, put my foot on the tool's pivot point, and pressed the other handle down with both arms. I was able to complete all the crimps I needed, so I'm giving the tool 4/5 stars. The tool is a good value. It was the cheapest swaging tool capable of 5/16" that I found. The crimping loop sleeves I used that required force to fit in the tool were: Antrader Aluminum Crimping Loop Sleeve 20PCS Wire Rope Aluminum Sleeve Clip Fittings for 5/16" Wire Rope and Cable

Perfect Tool for Crimping 1/4" Aluminum Sleeves

Works PERFECTLY for repairing my wire winch cable with 1/4" cable. It is a heavy duty tool, but EASILY crimps 1/4" wire cable aluminum sleeves. So very thrilled to have this tool on hand to help quickly repair any random winch cable snaps.
